  • My all-time favorite episode, both the original version as well as this re-make.

My all-time favorite episode due to such an OFFBEAT idea of the DISMEMBERMENT of one's little finger gambled on lighting your cigarette-lighter ten times in a row. At first, I was going to say AMPUTATION but an Amputation takes place in a hospital but in Hitchcock's case, it's done by a meat-cleaver so it's a DISMEMBERMENT. Never thought that worrying about losing one's little finger could create such suspense!

In one startling way, this Re-make surpasses the original version in the way the hand is shown. In the original version, when the gambler's Wife shows her hand with the several missing fingers, she has a Glove on. But in this Re-make, there is NO glove. So the gruesomeness is all the more ghastly!moreless
