Episode Recap

Alexander Gifford is an extremely miserly man who comes home one day, shocked to find that his wife has bought herself a "birthday gift" when it's not her birthday, and is dining on prime beef. Jennifer coldly shows him that, while she was cleaning earlier that day, she found several money clips, totalling over $30,000 that Alexander had stashed away under the bed slats. Completely floored that he has hidden this from her, Jennifer declares it to be a new day, and that from then on, they will live like "normal" people. As Alexander watches his wife buy an occasional hat and a new dress, he can hardly stand it. She threatens divorce, and he realizes that that will be expensive. He then considers hiring a hitman in order to kill her, but after meeting with one, is shocked to find the price to be $500. He looks into acquiring poison, but the price for buying that from a crooked apothecary is even higher. Finally, it occurs to him that food poisoning is totally free, and there would be no suspicion. He ends up buying a ham, which Jennifer eats and then falls ill. The family doctor diagnoses it as botulism, but while he is gone, Jennifer begins to revive. Dismayed, Alexander suffocates her with a pillow. Later, he is shocked when he realizes a funeral and the undertaker will cost over $150. He decides to donate his wife's body to science, and in doing so, picks up seventy-five dollars in the deal.
