  • What's really inside the West Warlock Time Capsule? Only George the taxidermist knows - and it won't be opened for a hundred years, so he isn't too worried anyone will find out...

Although it could have been plotted with a bit more elegance - the character of Waldron, the awful scrounger brother-in-law, is underdeveloped - this is an enjoyable standard episode, very typical of the series and featuring a predictable, but delightful, pay-off. Henry Jones, a marvellous character actor much admired by Hitchcock (who used him unforgettably in "Vertigo", as the coroner), is splendidly funny as the long-suffering taxidermist who finally loses his temper with his brother-in-law and finds the perfect method of being rid of him. Mildred Dunnock isn't given enough to do as his wife, but still demonstrates her great skill. Good fun.
