Written by: Jesse Alexander Sydney is trapped underwater, sees one of Sark's men, dead, takes a hit off his air tank and uses his gun to shoot a hole in the ice. She struggles to pull herself up but is too cold. Just as she passes out and falls back into the water, Dixon grabs her arm, rescuing her. Sydney tells Sloane that although Sark got away with the music box, it was corroded. Sloane is suspicious and asks why Rambaldi would place the artifact in ice. Sydney shrugs it off. Jack requests that Irina be removed but Agent Kendall refuses. Sydney confronts Jack, and they argue over whether or not Sydney talking to Irina is a good thing. He tells her he knows how much she wants a mother but that Irina is dangerous. Sydney says she is willing to use Irina to take down SD-6 so she can get away from it. Later, Jack opens up and tells Barnett that he's afraid of losing his daughter. Sloane tells Jack about the phone call from the B&B and asks Jack to quietly have someone investigate. Jack sends Dixon, who brings back the registry that is signed by Emily Sloane. Meanwhile, Will meets a gal in rehab who wants to hang out and further investigate his SD-6 story and publish their findings on her conspiracy website. Will says no and the gal goes back to Sloane. She was an agent sent by him to check out Will and he passed. He is now classified as a ‘non-threat'. SD-6 also found Sark's safe house and retrieved the corroded music box. Sark was torturing a man named Klaus Richter, who created the map where Irina's bible (a.k.a. operations manual) is hidden. Jack interrogates Richter and learns the map is hidden in a 1st edition of War and Peace in a Moscow military library. Jack meets with Sydney to give her the Intel and counter mission so she won't have to see Irina but she does anyway. Irina tells Sydney secrets of the library in exchange for her earrings that have sentimental value (turns out her mom gave them to her when she was 21 and graduating from the academy with the words, "wear them well") and expresses worry. Sydney smiles. Vaughn meets with Sydney and tells her that he is her ally and to never question that. She is moved. Sydney goes to Moscow but is ambushed by Sark, who offers her a job. She escapes with the map only to get trapped in an office. She calls Vaughn, who goes to Irina to find a way out. Irina tells her of a secret passage and Sydney escapes. Irina decodes the map for Sydney and she is sent with Vaughn to Madagascar to retrieve it. Jack is so angry that Sydney is putting so much faith in Irina, that he has a man wire the house in Madagascar to explode upon entry. Just before Syd and Vaughn enter, Jack warns them and saves the day. Sydney is very upset that Irina lied to her and then Sark shows up. He sends his men into the house; it explodes possibly destroying the bible. Sark escapes and Sydney cries to her father and apologies for not listening to him about Irina. Kendall has Irina removed and taken to Camp Harris for unrestricted interrogation.
