Ok, so I don't know if I missed it or not, but how exactly did Vaughn survive the shooting in episode 1 of season 5. I mean he died in the hospital right in front of Sydney, so how did he survive. They never really explained it, and I've checked over my dvd's, and I can't find it. And also, how did Sydney find out that he was alive, they must have skipped that or something. Can someone please let me know, that would be great.

I stopped watching after that but I think it was that he was stuck in some kind of WPP.

It's called the "suspension of reality" method of survival

Sydney and Jack faked Vaughn's death. It was mentioned that he was given some substance by Sydney that made him seem dead and then he was taken to the morgue, where he had to wait for Jack's contact. Part of this was suggested in 'The Horizon' in which Sydney's subconcious is questioning whether or not Vaughn is really dead and speaks of the liquid she fed him just before he 'crashed' - obviously the writers themselves did not know at this stage whether or not they would bring him back. A waste of valuable Syd/Vaughn time if you ask me!

I did, after he was burried I stopped watching, and then I watched the series Finale. But now that I'm working my way through the series, I know they wouldn't of killed him. Sydney loved him, and Jack apropved of him.

I don't see how anyone could survive a shooting like that.  I'm glad he was really alive, though.

They should have brought Danny back from the dead instead.
Or get Will to fall in love with Syndey...
Didn't he get married or something? I haven't seen season 5 yet!

True. It's addicting as hell. And when Vaugh died I absolutely knew that he isn't actually alive. They could have made it as real as possible, but still... this is "Alias." And the fact that this was the final season, I just knew that he'd come back.

At first I had doubts, I started thinking of how Syd watched her own funeral when she was held by the Covenant, or how Irina was suposedly killed by Jack, etc, etc

But then I thought of how a good number of the cast got changed that season I started to think he had really meet his maker. Anyway the season with out Vaughn or Weiss was really somewhat lame, not that Tom or Rachel didn't do a good job, but you can't just replace leading cast member overnight and expect things to work out by day break

I am a huge Alias fan, so ofcourse I was suspicious of Vaughn's death all along.  In the beginning, I think that he was supposted to die, but when they decided that it was the final season, they realized that they needed to bring Vaughn back to properly end up the story line.

I haven't actualy seen the final season. It didn't air or I missed it. Depressing. However they're playing - have played - season three and we are up to the end of season four. I am hoping they show season five because I remember the car accident episode, I cried. And then I was watching a video on youtube that had vaughn being shot and I was like "NO!" My heart sank. I haven't seen anything, so I thought he WAS dead. I love Vaughn. And sydney. Together =] They should have got married in real life.

Did Jeniffer Garner and Michael Vartan date in real life for a little bit?

Yeah. Michael Vartan said it was never that serious, and they remain friends to this day as far as I know.

Vaughn's death was pretty shocking to me -- especially after all the assurances that he would remain on the show. But you know, I should have expected it... two characters can never be together for too long on a series. Something has to happen to make them break up, then get back together, break up, get back together, etc.

You've gotta be kidding me?! I'm only up to 5x10 but you cant be seriously telling me that Vaughn isn't dead?!

One well placed bullet, on average will kill a someone in this show and in real life one well place bullet will do the same. Vaughn gets 3 rounds of an mp5 unloaded into his chest. He should have been dead instantly.

I thought it was outrageous that after being unloaded on so severely, he even lasted till the hospital/bed scene. Theres no way he could have survived that. I mean damn, the old guy he was with was dead after one bullet and they just stuck another burst into his body just to be sure.

He had his vest on. The amount of ammo that got unloaded into him was enough to break it, but it still took enough of the damage for him to survive.
