Episode Recap

Sydney, catching herself on the ladder, survives the harrowing fall. She pulls herself out and finds Dixon. He is shot and losing blood. Vaughn had given Sydney a satellite phone, to contact the CIA in case of an emergency. She uses it and the CIA airlifts Dixon to a hospital but not before Dixon hears Sydney make the call and repeats her code name, Freelancer, twice. Dixon is in a coma.

Dryer informs Sloane that Sydney is the mole, because her lie detector test results were too perfect. Sloane argues that Sydney is not the mole and that Dreyer should keep looking. After a heated discussion, Sloane says he will take care of Sydney.

Sydney faces Francie and Will, and has to lie about why she is beat-up and bruised and why Dixon got shot. Will questions her, but Francie accepts her answers.

Sydney is sent to Tuscany, alone, to retrieve bank account information from former SD-6 ally Ineni Hassan's computer, so that SD-6 can freeze his assets.

Sloane sends an order to have Sydney killed. He sends the order over the corrupted Server 5, which alerts the CIA to the hit. Vaughn is ready to pull Sydney out but Jack realizes that Sloane is testing Sydney. He convinces Vaughn to let Sydney make the drop. She does and nothing happens to her. Sloane is now convinced that she is not the mole.

Will continues with his investigation into the 'bug' and learns that it is operating. He attempts contact with whoever is on the other end. When contact is made, he is asked how far he is willing to go and he must commit to his search. The mystery person leaves him a tape with muffled voices and gunshots, presumably from the night Eloise Kurtz was murdered.

The information Sydney retrieves from Tuscany leads her and another agent to a bank vault in Geneva. While she transmits the data to SD-6, a radio in her ear also transmits the data to the CIA. Marshall, in his bumbling, but endearing way, informs Dreyer that two radio transmissions came from the vault when Sydney was transmitting the bank account information.

Dixon, emerging from his coma, explains to Sydney that all he remembers from their mission is hiking out to find a better radio transmission. He does not recall getting shot or anything that happened after that.

Sydney, relieved, leaves the hospital and is abducted in the parking garage by six men, seemingly under Sloane's orders.
