Sydney cuts the cable she was hanging from, causing her to slide through the window of an abandoned warehouse. One of the enemy chases her through the building. He sees her going down an elevator and runs down the steps to meet her, shooting her through the elevator gate. He opens it only to find out he killed a mannequin. When he turns around, Sydney greets him by knocking him out. Dixon drives up in time to save her from another enemy about to shoot her.
Back in L.A., Will and Jenny are in bed. Will is getting ready to leave to interview David McNeal after she reminds him he's getting a prestigious journalism award for a story he wrote. She asks him if he wants to celebrate, but he says he's busy. However, while Jenny's in the shower, Will calls Sydney and asks her to celebrate. At SD-6 headquarters, Sloane is worrying over the fact Will has visited McNeal several times. Jack tries to talk Sloane out of killing Will, telling him that he will take care of the issue. Sloane tells Jack that "there are some truths that Sydney must never learn."

Francie is looking at engagement gifts and breaks down when she talks to Sydney about her broken engagement with Charlie. She tells Sydney she hasn't been able to take off her ring, and Sydney shows Francie that she still wears the ring Danny gave her. They decide to take them off together, but once they do so, they look sad.
Later, Will is at work, accepting congratulations and a cake from a coworker for his award. A messenger asks Will how to get to someone's office and pats his back in thanks. When the messenger returns to his car, it is revealed he planted a bug on Will. At SD-6, Sloane is briefing Dixon and Sydney about Sark. Marshall rambles as per usual before telling them that Sark seems to spend considerable time in Ireland. Sloane sends them on a mission to Tunisia to steal Rambaldi's manuscript from Sark. Later, Vaughn tells Sydney the pictures she had taken previously of part of the manuscript seem to be some kind of instruction manual. He details her to take pictures of the manuscript for the CIA. Vaughn asks Sydney to go to Sloane's house on the pretense of visiting with his ill wife, Emily, whom she is friends with, and plant a bug. Sydney has some problems with this, but calls Emily anyways.
Will is at the prison talking to McNeal. He reveals to McNeal that his software is being used by a former member of the intelligence community, Alain Christophe. On his way home, Will is hijacked by strangers is masks. They blindfold and kidnap him.
In Tunisia, Sydney, looking like a beach bunny, approaches the yacht where the K-Directorate operatives are awaiting Sark with the Rambaldi manuscript. She boards with the pretense of needing fuel for her speedboat. She knocks out a guard and the captain with a spray. She attempts to knock out the man with the manuscript in the same manner, but he fights back. She ends up physically knocking him out and unlocking the briefcase, taking pictures of the manuscript with the CIA's camera. When another guard approaches, Sydney pretends to be making out with the man she punched out. The guard approaches when she beckons him and knocks him unconscious as well. When Dixon tells her that Sark is approaching the dock, she steals the yacht in order to get away. Sark can only watch in annoyance.
Back in L.A., Will is taken to an empty warehouse and terrorized into dropping the David McNeal story. He gets a good look at his captor's eyes, although the rest of his face, and even his voice, is disguised. The man shows him pictures of his family, but Will begs him to stop when he shows a picture of Sydney. He knocks will unconscious and walks out of the warehouse, taking his mask off and revealing himself to be Jack Bristow. At SD-6, Sloane tells a senior operative to kill the captain of the boat Sydney stole, even though the captain was a civilian.
Sydney gets a phone call from Emily inviting her to dinner, along with a friend. She tells Vaughn about this, and he gives her the bug, designed to look like a paperclip, to plant in Sloane's office. He asks Sydney who she's taking to Sloane's house. Cut to Will waking up in the warehouse to his phone ringing. It's Sydney, and she notices that Will does not sound normal. She asks him to go with her to Sloan's. Afterwards, Jenny picks Will up on the side of the road. She wants to know what happened to him, but he refuses. She wants to take him back to her place, but Will breaks up with her. Since she's driven out to the middle of nowhere to pick him up, she is mad and makes him get out of the car, also quitting as his assistant.
At Sydney's place, Sydney is getting ready for the dinner at Sloane's while Francie reads aloud various notes she's written to family explaining her break-up with Charlie. Sydney's phone rings and Francie picks up. Sydney figures out that it was Vaughn calling and goes to meet with him and Jack. They tell her that she needs to switch a blank counterfeit sheet with one in the Rambaldi manuscript while at Sloan's house. Jack will be going to the dinner as backup. Jack shows surprise when she tells him she's taking Will to the dinner, then leaves. Vaughn doesn't seem happy about this and tells her she looks pretty. Sydney later arrives at Sloane's house with Will and introduces him to Emily and Arvin. Jack is already there. Sloane takes Sydney to his office where he shows her the manuscript, obviously excited about it. While he's retrieving it from his safe, she drops the paperclip/bug in a penholder on his desk. Sloane seems fascinated with Rambaldi, and he reveals that it is becoming an obsession for him. Sydney tells him she's still not a believer. During dinner, Emily praises Will for his story for which he won the award. The story almost seems to parallel Sydney's situation at SD-6 in that the immigrants from the story would be killed if they spoke against the man they worked for, but they educated themselves and led a revolt, putting the man in jail to rot. Suddenly, Emily seems to be in pain. They are concerned, and she explains it's her new medication. Sydney receives a phone call from Francie, actually Vaughn. She leaves the table on the pretense of talking to Francie and runs to Sloane's office to switch the manuscript pages. Jack gets up to get wine, stopping to check on Sydney. When he gets back to the table, Sloane tells him he has a special wine he'd rather use and gets up from the table. Sydney barely gets the manuscript back into Sloane's safe in time before he comes through the door. It is unclear if he has seen her , but the expression on his face suggests he suspects something.
The next day, Jack is explaining to Sloane the action he took with Will. Sloane tells Jack that Will has scheduled a meeting McNeal, and he has sent someone to listen in on the conversation. At the prison, Will tells McNeal that he's off the story. McNeal is very upset since he sent his daughter away so Will would write the story. Will is torn; however, telling McNeal he's dropping the story has saved his life. Jack was also listening to the conversation as well and seems very relieved by the outcome.
At the CIA, Vaughn finds out that CIA scientists have figured out how to read the blank document Sydney stole from Sloane's house. He meets Sydney and shows her the page, telling her they used the liquid McKennas Cole was trying to steal from SD-6 in order to reveal what was written. When she looks at the page, she is shocked to see her face drawn there, hundreds of years before she was born.
