Episode Recap

Police cars jump out from every direction. They are following a woman in a navy blue car. Her short blond-streaked wig and big brown glasses hide her identity. Sydney Bristow is on the run. Turning into the platform of the port, she halts. Police officers surround her car. Her pulse is racing and then, out of nowhere, she viciously steps on the gas pedal. The car, breaking through a wooden fence, falls straight into the water.
The next scene starts with a tour of an interrogation room. Sydney Bristow is chained to a chair with two microphones staring at her. A man walks in and offers her a vanilla milkshake. "Will you remind them that I cooperated, that I didn't resist. I don't need these restraints," she tells him.
CIA OFFICES—While Weiss and Vaughn talk, Agent Vaughn reveals that an FBI tribunal has been called. Sydney Bristow will be interrogated. Held under national security directive 81-A, Bristow can be held with the current evidence available. She replies, "I have nothing to hide." She reveals that she was introduced to the agent life in her freshman year of college.
Flashback (Sydney Bristow voice-over): Low on money, she accepted the offer to work for the "CIA." Convinced of their legitimacy, she began working at a bank, thought to be affiliated with the agency. Pleased with her performance, they informed her she was ready for the transition. She was ready to become a spy. Eight months of grueling training, she rose the ranks quickly. It was during this transition that she first heard the name SD-6. SD stands for Section Disparu; the lost section. After Kendall criticizices her ignorance, Bristow says, "I was not a genius at 19." Kendall, looking in his folder, responds, "says here you were."
Warehouse—Jack Bristow and Michael Vaughn meet. Jack says that Sydney must be out before Tuesday or else she could risk her cover at SD-6. Furthermore, the United States can hold her without trials or charges for the rest of her life.
Interrogation Room—Kendall questions Sydney about Danny. Flashing back to the first episode, Sydney describes the details of his death. Kendall accuses Sydney of knowing SD-6's true agenda.
CIA Offices—Vaughn deduces that Haladki was part of the FBI before joining the CIA.
Interrogation Room—Sydney says that the Alliance is a board of directors, all powerful, all wealthy. Most are former intelligence officers. They started a company called the Alliance, specializing in the trade of intelligence. They run the black market and organized crime.
Flashback ("Pilot" and "So It Begins")—After returning the device built by Milo Rambaldi, Sydney becomes a double agent.
Warehouse—"This woman will have had her effect having never seen the beauty of Mount Subasio." Having argued the importance of this line, Vaughn believes if Sydney were witness to Rambaldi's homeland, it would be impossible for her to be the Chosen One. Vaughn reveals to Jack that their ticket in to the FBI is through Haladki.
Interrogation Room—Sydney tells the tribunal the truth about her mother and her involvement with the KGB. After her mother's death, Jack had hired a nanny to watch Sydney. Mostly on trips, Sydney never felt the love of a father. She explains the usual precautions the CIA takes while on missions.
Parking Lot—Jack attacks Haladki. He learns the necessary information to extract Sydney.
Interrogation Room—Sydney says she hates keeping secrets from her friends. Kendall assumes she has a problem keeping secrets. She flatly denies it. Asked to describe Rambaldi, Sydney says he was Pope Alexander V's chief architect. His innovations were so technologically advanced that he was considered a heretic. Executed, many of his works were destroyed. He was a prophet who has the whole intelligence world on his tracks. They believe he has a master plan, one that was confirmed by Sydney's trip to Argentina. In the discovered manuscripts, Rambaldi refers to a single construction. Asked the question, "Do you believe Rambaldi was a prophet," Sydney replies by asking, "do you?" While being released, three men capture Sydney and throw her in a van. The three men are Jack, Vaughn and Weiss. They force her to go to Italy and see Mt. Subasio.
Vaughn's trunk—Vaughn denies believing Rambaldi's prediction by telling Sydney, "I believe in you."
Sydney's car—In her blue sportswear outfit, she enters a car. She is chased by several police cars to the port. Surrounded by cops, Sydney pushes the break and lands in the water. Slowly drowning, Sydney lowers the driver's window. She uses the air from the tire to survive.
The Port—Cold and wet, Sydney reveals to her father her methods of survival. She is convinced her mother planned the accident and survived the same way. "Mom's alive. I know it."
