This episode was just a waste of space -as it basically was just clips from the previous episodes with about 5-10mins of new drama...makes me wonder why it gets scores of +7 and one would deduce that these scores are from fanatics!
The episode just pieces together clips from previous episodes of series 1 with the minimum of additional new script. Very annoying indeed. It really makes you wonder why this episode was made. It is indeed very very difficult to obtain the 100 words min. to hopefully put this episode in better context for anyone that actually likes to see a review. Whether this review will make it on website is another question as everyone else gave this episode +7 which reminds one of the marking system in school exams now ..if all episodes get 10 can one believe it ..going by this episode no!
I actually thgouht this episode was really bad right up until the end of the episode when Sydney dfrove the car off of the dock and we learned that the beginning of the episode was actually the end of the episode. I thought this was the worst written JJ Abrams episode to date. I always expect his episode to be in the upper nine portions, but this episode was mainly a review episode which makes hardcore fans like me very unhappy. He didnt really answer any new questions, he simply reviewed what Sydneys job was and why she is doing what she is doing. The end of the episode definatly saved it for me, with it being revealed that Sydneys mother could be alive and well and the real woman of the prophecy. I think this is yet another mytsry that will be over our heads as the series moves on. Decent episode, but not what I would come to expect from JJ Abrams writing an episode.
In this episode of Alias Sydney is questioned because some people believe she is some how corniced to Rambaldi mean while Jack and Vaughan must free her and make clear Sydney is not the one that they are looking for before her cover at SD-6 is blown all and all an ok episode that was ok not the best thing in the world and I thought they wanted to do a flashback episode without slowing down the series so they tied into a episode where Sydney told them everything from when she found the truth about SD-6 to now but I do think it was done well since they did want to do a flashback or recap episode the end
This episode was somehow a waste of time.. if you have been watching the serie carefully you knew everything they asked her.. and the whole look back things.. I felt like it was not necessary.. Maybe they just needed to fill this episode with something but to be honest, the only thing that developed the story was the end - Sydney driving into the water and realizing that her mother is still alive if the prophecy is true.. Ok, but they could have done it better, really.
I somehow think that if you had missed some episode or not started from the beginning to follow the serie, this one did had some purpose but..
This was a great episode, even though it was more of a flashback episode it was still great.
Sydney is being held by the FBI & is being interogated by them because of the Rambaldi prophecy and they aren't planning to let her go so Vaugn & Syd's father plan to help her escape FBI custody & prove that hte prophecy is wrong.
We learn more about Sydney & how she was recruited to SD-6 and about her childhood. We also get to see flashbacks from the previous episodes so if you've missed most of Alias you can easily catch up.
Also we learn something very important about Sydney's mother & that is that she may be alive & Sydney now knows how it's possible.
I think that this episode was atually really intresting. If you haven't seen any of the other episodes you would catch up really fast. It has alot of flashbacks and memories. To me this one was kind of like a summary show. I liked it because it explained what every thing was about and how every thing fit into the puzzle.
No matter how hard J. J. Abrams tries in this episode, however hard he tries to spin the episode to make it important, it can only ever be just a clip-show- a filler episode. In my opinion, even though it is well done, the episode ends up breaking the flow of this wonderfully intricate first season and seems to slow down the pace of the series which has been, up till now, edge-of-your-seat-nail-bitingly fast. The episode pretends to be important with key moments of reflection for the characters; but you are kidding yourself if you think it could not have been handled better bundled with another episode. However, as a budding writer myself (he he he), I know the difficulties involved in writing filler episodes and clip-shows and I have to hand it to Mr. Abrams once again for pulling it off so finely. Hat’s off...
