  • All around the snowman..

Ok.. maybe I was not watching the screen all time but.. I did not get the end.. how that Noah ended up being a snowman? Where were the clues or there should have been none and it was a thing we should be shocked? I think it might work but the moment when Sydney managed to use against him, the way he looked, it betrayed him.. Ok.. but the much better part was everything about her mother.. and that was just a thing this show needed - something new and something to affect the chars.. Specially I liked how it affected Sydney's father.moreless
  • Never could see it coming

  • Above Average

In this season 1 episode of Alias tilted Snowman Sloane begins to think that Noah is not on the side of SD-6 Will and Francie ask Sydney about an Airline ticket form Italy when she said she was in Seattle on business meanwhile Sydney finds more information out on her mother which upsets her father Jack Bristow also K-Directorate sends an assassin know as The Snowman after a person of interest to SD-6 all in all a nice episode I will say the episode is above average good story to fill an hour of my life that is what I have to say about this episode of Aliasmoreless
  • Review

I dont know whats been up with the past five episode, but I think the show has hit a bit of a funk. I remember when every episode used to be intense and on the edge of your seat. Perhaps I have just come to expect the action, which makes it less exciting. The shocking endings are still here - but that seems to be the only thing keeping the shows rating above an 8. Before the final scene I had this epsiode rated a 7.7, then Noah becoms the Snowman and dies in the arms of Sydney as SD 6 charges the building and the rating for the episode has no choice but to shoot up to a 9 or so. I thought the small story arch that was Noah was interesting. I would have liked to see him get a little more involved in Sydney, so that the shcok would have broken her heart a little more and would have shocked us a little more. Maybe have him see Sydney and then escape only to get caught with her again in the finale. Either way, the ending was shocking and it should be interesting to see how Sydney reacts in the episode following this.moreless
  • Sydney:Nice shot. Noah:Thanks.Easier to shoot tranqs. No anxiety of killing somebody.

    Syd:Nice shot.

Noah:Thanks.Easier to shoot tranqs. No anxiety of killing somebody.

This episode was very exciting.Snowman turned out to be Noah.

Ok,generally i\'m not good at guessing what will happen next on a series but that was totally obvious.I did\'nt like Noah from the moment i saw him and i did\'nt trust him.I was right.I did\'nt like him because he was too ugly for Syd(I wonder how Syd could fall in love with a guy like him);his face seemed like a criminal\'s face;and he treated Syd like she was his girlfriend.

At first,i thought that Snowman would be an-irrelevant with the plot-guy whose only job was to kill Khasinau. Then we saw Syd who was asked by Noah to accompany him wherever he would go.I knew that Syd would\'nt do it because then everything that she had fought for and risked her life would have been vanished in a single moment.Everything was good untill we saw Syd thinking about leaving everything behind-her spy life, her friends, her familly(Jack) and her revenge-and getting on that plane.I was quite shocked, but then i realized that this could\'nt happen and that Noah should be killed by Snowman be Snowman in order Syd could find it out and not leave.

I\'m happy that Noah was killed, although Syd must be crushed because she lost another person who she loved.Oh my God,how many things can this woman bear?First Danny, then the truth about SD-6,her suspission about her father, then the Rambaldi prophecy, all the truth about her mother and now Danny.Syd is my favourite character!!!

Now,as far as the mom plot is concerned,we saw a video showing her,her partner and Khasinau. They were at the KGB and she was answering some questions. We learned that her real name is Irina Derevko, that her mission was to marry a CIA officer-Jack Bristow-and get as many info as she could and she faked her death with Calder\'s,a.k.a.Igor Valenko, help(well,we know this, but here it is testified).During the conversation Irina called Jack fool.I had the belief that she would have developed an emotion about him all those years they had been together but i was wrong. How can you call him fool? You have a daughter with him!Poor Jack...

That was some fight in the kitchen, one of the best i have seen on this show!!!

--The rescue scene of Syd and Noah was awesome!!!The motorbike collided with the car and they saw the moon outside the helicopter!!!

--Why the russian accent?Irina(Laura) was supposed to be a lit student?

--Jack\'s full name is Jonathan Donahue Bristow.

    --This episode\'s scenery:Arkhangesk,Bogota,Cape Town and Mackay,Australia.

    --This episode\'s gadget:Marshall\'s sound dampener.

    A very entertaining episode!!!

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (7)

    • Number 47: McCullough asks Noah about the 47 million dollars that was transferred and then withdrawn to an untraceable account.

    • Jack's full name is Jonathan Donahue Bristow.

    • Vaughn's dog is named Donovan.

    • Goof: Noah Hicks is left handed. When Noah and Sydney go to retrieve the "data core" in "Masquerade", Noah fires the AK-47 with his left hand. Then when they go in this episode, to Capetown, Noah uses his right hand to stun the guards with the sniper rifle, once inside however when he fires the magnetic grappling hook he again uses his left hand again.

Perhaps Noah is ambidextrous and able to use both hands effectively.

    • Irina is not played by Lena Olin in this episode. Another actress plays her, in a video supposedly shot during a KGB briefing in the 1980's.

    • When the SD-6 team is in Australia to pick up Calder, they are briefed outside his house in a van. Agent Dixon is sitting in the driver's seat (left front) talking over his shoulder to Sydney. This is a blooper as in Australia they drive on the left side of the road, therefore the driver's seat would have been the right front seat.

    • Both Sloane and Vaughn mispronounce Mackay, the town in Queensland, Australia where Sydney is sent to find Calder. They pronounce it "Mack-ay", the end rhyming with the letter A, when it's actually pronounced "Mack-ye", rhyming with the letter I.

  • QUOTES (13)

    • (Sydney is watching the video footage of Laura. Khasinau asks Laura her name in Russian)
Laura: My Russian or American name?
      Khasinau: Why not both?
Laura: Irina Derevko and Laura Bristow.
Khasinau: When were you recruited for special duties?
Laura: In 1970, I was recruited to the KGB by you, Alexander Khasinau.
Khasinau: Describe the objective of your operation.
Laura: Phase One. I was to pose as an American. A student of Literature. Phase Two. I was to make the acquaintance of a particular officer in the Central Intelligence Agency. To insinuate myself into his life. To become his confidante. Earn his trust.
Khasinau: Please state the officer by name.
      Laura: Officer Jonathan Donohue Bristow.
      Khasinau: Phase Three.
Laura: Phase Three I was to begin to acquire, through various means, details of the CIA operation to which Bristow was assigned. Project Christmas.

    • Vaughn: The Snowman. He's been spotted in Mackay. Sydney's there, too. He's going after Calder to get to Khasinau. Can you think of a way to contact Sydney, put out a warning?

    • Sydney: You're not really going to Banku, are you?
Noah: No. Tuvalu. It's an island in the South Pacific. I, uh, talked to my contact. He says now's my window. I'm leaving tonight and we could go together.
Sydney: Sometimes, all I want to do is disappear. Just let all this go. And just start over again.

    • (Jack is watching the video footage of Laura.)
Khasinau: How did you acquire your intel?
Laura: Every night for ten years I went through his briefcase. I eavesdropped on all of his private conversations. I planted listening devices on his clothing. He was blinded by his emotions. He knew nothing. I can tell you one thing: "Jack Bristow was a fool".

    • Jack: Tippin didn't turn out to be a problem, did he?
Sloane: Sydney wasn't intimate with Tippin. She is with Hicks.
Jack: I'm not sure that's my business, and I know it isn't yours.

    • Vaughn: Mr. Kishell, I appreciate you talking to me. I know this must be very difficult.
Kishell: I know difficult. Talk is easy.

    • Jack: (to Sydney) SD-6 has run an additional profile on Noah. There were anomalies, including recent bank activity which suggested he may have ties to K-Directorate. Noah's been taken into custody by security section.

    • Sydney: Dad, he was KGB. It wasn't just Mom's death they faked. It was Calder's, too. If we can get to Calder, maybe we can find Khasinau.

    • Sydney: You know I can't do that.
      Noah: Why?
Sydney: Well, for about a million reasons.
Noah: I highly doubt there are a million reasons. There might be fifty, and I'd like the opportunity to refute all of them.
Sydney: One of the biggest reasons that comes to mind is my mother. Khasinau was her superior. My mother was a spy for the KGB and those files that we recovered may help me find her. I'm not going anywhere until I know where she is.

    • (Noah Hicks is at his work station at SD-6, two agents approach him)
Agent: Mr. Hicks will you come with us please
      Noah: Is there a problem?
Agent: Mr. Sloane asked for you to come with us.
Noah: Well that's never a good thing.

    • Noah Hicks: Hey Dixon... I just keep trying to think of some kind of opening, something to start off with, talk to you.
Dixon: Noah, I'll be straight with you, I don't trust you, which wouldn't be such a problem except I'm an intelligence officer, and if you stick around sooner or later my life is going to be in your hands and yours in mine, and in that scenario the only person truly safe will be you.

    • Marshall: Listen, I know I've been somewhat impressed with myself in the past, but this time I am, like, freaking out about it.
Sloane: Marshall, could you just tell me what?
Marshall: I used a signal lost recovery procedure to examine the low-level data sector. I created a raw image -
Sloane: Marshall! What did you do?
Marshall: I found Valenko. I mean Calder. Well, it's the same guy, right? Well, I found him!

    • Marshall: 0.05DBs is closer to, like, a sound of a cockroach rubbing his legs together. You know... reeeeer, reeeeeer.
