Sydney is contemplating quitting grad school. She feels like she only went because her mother was a Literature professor but now that she knows it was just her cover, maybe she doesn't want to be a teacher anymore. She asks Jack what he thinks but he has no answer. Her professor tells her that she is one of the best students he has, and that she should reconsider. Jack asks her to meet him and they go to a park, with a carousel. Jack says that he and her mother used to bring her there, and it made her happy. He says that he isn't accustomed to dealing with personal issues because it's been so long but that he thinks that although she may have been influenced to go to grad school because of her mother, the decision was ultimately her own and that she would make a great teacher. She decides to stay in school.
Vegas. Bright lights, big city, slot machines, dancing girls, gambling. Sydney, disguised as a showgirl, enters the casino. She narrowly escapes notice from Francie and Charlie, who went to Vegas anyway. With the fancy gadget from Marshall, Sydney is able to splice her way into the Casino's video feed. Dixon, disguised as a Jamaican diplomat, engages in a poker game with the K-Directorate agent.
From the video screens, Sydney sees Francie and Charlie in the wedding chapel. Afraid her friend is going to make a huge mistake, she tells Dixon she is going radio silent for two minutes. She throws on a coat and rushes to the chapel.
Pulling Charlie aside, she tells him she knows about his affair with Stella and if he doesn't come clean to Francie, she will.
Charlie doesn't tell Francie, but they decide to not elope.
Back at the poker game, Dixon loses the hand but manages to swap the ring with the listening device. Mission successful.
Sydney meets with Vaughn to tell him about the mission and he confesses that he wishes he could be a part of her life outside of the CIA.
With the aid of the bug, SD-6 learns that "The Man" and K-Directorate are meeting in Moscow. Sydney hangs from a wire between two buildings, peering through the window. She has equipment that allows Dixon, in the car, to have both an audio and visual feed. Dixon recognizes the K-Directorate rep as the head of K-D. Mr. Sark, representing "The Man," offers $100 million for the Rambaldi manuscript recovered in Argentina. The head of K-D declines the offer and is killed, leaving the remaining K-D lieutenant in charge. He accepts the offer, to save his life.
Sydney's foot slips against the wall, knocking concrete down on the guard below. She swings on the wire helplessly as he shoots his machine gun in the air.
