    "Good"
this series while having some good moments also has alot of ridiculous moments and there is no better example than in this episode with:

"you've been gone for almost 2 years"

TWO YEARS! they were supposed to be in true love and he has moved on and just gave up on her in almost 2 years? you've got to be kidding me... if he said 10 years then i would understand but almost 2 years? absurd.. if the girl i was in love with just vanished off the face of the earth i damn sure wouldn't give up on her in almost 2 years.. maybe not even the rest of my life.. i found this to be insulting to say the least.. laughable.

another thing is why did noone even question the idea that maybe it could be francie.. i mean after tippin could be the double well the very next scenario is that francie could also be but yet noone in the csi even considers the possibility?

and they continue to trust her mom? i mean really? she killed 8 cia operatives among countless others and is one of the most dangerous people on the face of earth and completely duped jack and yet everyone continues to trust her haha this series is gonna give me a heart attack.

throughout the series there has been so much things such as this... but the 2 years thing really annoyed me to no end.

even with it's faults i did enjoy the 2nd season more than the first and i am intrigued to see where the 3rd season goes.

For better or for worse (to this day, it's still being debated amongst hardcore fans) the season two finale, The Telling, changed the face of Alias forever.

As if this season hadn't already undergone serious reconstruction, with the magnificent game changer, Phase One, Abrams takes that one step further and completely revamps the entire series.

Regardless of whether or not I believe that this is the season where Alias piqued, thus failing to recapture the glory and complexity of its narrative structure, intense action and marvelous character work in subsequent seasons, this episode is a tour de force, effectively webbing every element that made season two must-see TV, into one captivating hour.

Props to Abrams and Co., this is one of the best season finales from any show. Period. It helps if your an avid fan of the series, as it doesn't hold back any punches and every reveal, every twist, every kick, every tear just bursts through the TV screen, demanding you witness this world you've been watching for 2 years crumble before your very eyes. JJ evokes such emotion from his cast, they really give it their all in his one. Special mention has to go out to Merrin Dungey, as this is her last episode as a series regular, and she gives us many reasons as to why she'll be missed. As Francie, her friendship with Syd grounded the show - we viewed Syd's everyday life through her eyes. Perhaps a little underused, Francie was always a very 'real' character - flawed, funny, and refreshingly average (on a show where we saw Syd do all sorts of fantastical things on a weekly basis). Of course, Abrams had to take one of the only real relationships Syd had on the show and kill it. And so Allison was introduced. Again, props to Merrin, who managed to make Allison a frightening villain, while allowing us to to subtly see a real person behind the face of the woman she murdered... .Her scene where she's crying over stabbing Will is both touching and insanely cruel to long-term fans (I doubt Bradley or Merrin ever thought they'd be in such a situation when they first joined the show).

And that fight scene...my word, it was vicious, wasn't it? Carrying the same emotional gravity as Buffy Vs Faith, Syd Vs Allison is one hell of a showdown. Made all the more riveting by the fact the first half of the action isn't aided by a score (it also recalls the fight between The Bride and Copperhead in Kill Bill). Unlike Buffy and Faith's fight, I had a hard time spotting the stunt double as these two ladies walloped the bejaysus out of one another, taking half of the house down with them!

There are so many thrilling moments in this episode, it's difficult to pinpoint my favourite bit: Syd's confrontation with her mother on the ice rink was expertly played out. And that scene on the rooftop was jaw-dropping, from an acting and visual standpoint - it literally floored me. And the ending. THE ENDING. This episode has it all, really...

Two years into the future. Syd doesn't remember a thing. Vaughn thought she was dead. Vaughn is also married. Alias at its best - compelling, entertaining, daring and various other complementary words ending with ing. The show does come close to reaching these heights again, but the series never manages to eclipse such a jam-packed episode.

Flamin' heck. My brain just melted all over again.
  • In my opinion, this is the episode where Alias jumps the shark. Ladies and Gentlemen, this episode should be included in history books.

    "Perfect"
Alias peaks right here. In this episode. Never ever this show is going to reach heights like this.

    Absolutely breathetaking.

JJ Abrams showed his true-self. Brilliant writing, brilliant. I can't even imagine how twisted that man's mind is. Many say, that you can't really judge an episode by the ending. This is true. However, this episode's ending is more than "cool" or even "amazing". It's a true gamechanger, one of the most creative cliffhangers in TV history that changed Alias forever.

Advancing 2 years without the knowledge of the main character in only 1 second, what the...? Incredible. But, not only that is. Evil Francie is exposed by Will, and of course, the event we've been waiting for for a long time... ever since "Phase One".... the ultimate showdown between Allison and Sydney.

Best. Fight. Ever. At least, on television, but it definitely ranks high on the overall list. It was movie quality. The music was amazing. I liked how Giacchino didn't use techno music in this one,he knows how to create suspense.

Also amazing performances by Merrin Dungey and Jennifer Garner, they both delivered their bests. Also, the directing! Oh my god. I was really thrilled by the final moments of the fight.

Sydney putting 3 bullets in Allison's body was very shocking ,because the bullet wounds were 100% realistic. Not just red spots.

"Il Dire"... The Telling. Rambaldi's magnificent machine. We don't know what it is, or what it does, but it's working. We don't witness it - unfortunately - just hear how it "works"... it's very bizarre. And it makes the ground shake. Even more bizarre... Sloane is seriously up to something.

The rest of the episode was amazing too, but it's simply not worth mentioning as everything was building up to the last 10 minutes - it was more than worth it.

Ladies and gentlemen, this was TV history. This episode proved 2 things.

    1. Alias is one of the best ever.

    2. JJ Abrams is a genious.

No doubt in those 2, not after this. Amazing closure to an amazing season. Thank you JJ, thank you. You are the man.
  • Wow... wow... wow... wow... WOW! (contains spoilers)

    "Perfect"
This episode is such a perfect episode! Everything from the last two seasons comes together perfectly in this episode. There was story about Sloane, Irina, Jack, and the CIA, as usual, but the story at this episode's core, involving Sydney and Vaughn, were the most shocking and unbelievable. Irina finally faces off with Sydney (for the first time in the series, not counting when Irina shot Sydney) on the rooftop of a building, but Irina jumps off the building, with a bungee thing attached, and escapes from the grip of the CIA again. Vaughn tells Sydney that he booked them a flight to go on vacation that night. Sydney is ecstatic and Vaughn leaves for a briefing, but will be back soon to pick her up. We find out, at either the end of season three or the beginning of season four (sorry, can't remember!) how heartbreaking this really is. [message me for details]

Sydney finally figures out that Francie is not really Francie at all, but instead is the second double from Project Christmas and the DNA remodeling project, or whatever you want to call it. Will figures this out and Francie fights him off, stabs him, and puts him in the bathtub. Sydney realizes Francie is Allison Doren and they fight. Sydney eventually gets the upper hand and shoots Allison three times, but then passes out. All goes black.

The episode skips to Sydney in an alleyway somewhere in China. She wakes up, calls the CIA, and heads to a safe house. Eventually Vaughn arrives, very shaken and with a ring on his finger. What an amazing ending... but it is just the beginning!
  • Wow, just Wow ;)

This is got to be one of the best season finale that I have ever seen on any show.

This is JJ Abrams at his very best !!

This episode just has it all !!! A great script, great acton, great fights, great music, great directing, great acting ( Merrin Dungey and Jennifer Garner just kicked ass) and a cliffhanger that noone could have predicted. This is got to be one of the most creative cliffhangers in TV history.

The whole episode kept me on the edge of my seat.

An episode that is watchable over and over again.

Pure genious, don't miss it !!

Another version of JJ Abrams at his best. The ending scene is something that no one could ever predict in a million yeras, which is what makes his writing so good. There is no wya to tell what direction Season 3 will take. Vaughn is now married to someone else, Will seems to be alive from what he was talking about with Sydney. The entire episode is written very well, with Sydney finnaly getting some some revenge after finding out that it was really Francie the whole time that was the double. The fighting scenes in this episode were very well done - mainly Francie/Will (which still seems that Will seemed to die) and then Francie/Sydney. I liked how they wrapped up that storyline, as it looks like Season 3 will move foward from here and we will get flashbacks of the last two years of Sydneys life. Overall, it was an amazing episode and the ending ranks number 1 of all time. As far as the best episode - I still think Phase One earns that title, but this episode is a close second.
  • One of the best finales I've ever seen.

    "Superb"
The last couple of episodes were pretty mediocre. However, this episode rises upon, and within only a few minutes, you'll be sure that, this... will... be... it. One of the best episodes of Alias.

Everything comes together: problems, solutions... twists, dead ends.

    Highlights:

-- Sloane. Creepy, evil, yet not so evil. This season he has killed dozens of people. Yet, still... he doesn't feel guilty. At all.

-- Francie vs Sydney. Wow. I never thought this would happen... well it did! Incredible. Alias officially put Matrix in a shame!

-- Sark. Hilarious... ' My loyality is pretty flexible '. That guy, similiarly to Sloane, SO evil, yet I simply can't hate him.

-- Irina and Sydney. Very emotional.

-- The Rambaldi 'machine'. It was so creepy. We didn't see it, but we did hear it. Jack 'liked' it, too...

    AND NOW... the SUPER-highlight:

the CLIFFHANGER. One of the BEST I've EVER seen. It just raises SO many questions, a full season won't be enough to explain it. It blew me away...

While the episode just couldn't get better than Phase One, it was close. Very. Close.
  • Heartbreaking but still one of the best episodes of the series. A must watch episode!

    "Superb"
This episode is why Alias was such a huge hit. It shows how truly gifted JJ Abrahams is. Although it was hard to watch, especially the ending, it was amazing. The entire episode is filled with anxiety and emotion even up to the last 5 minutes. There are twist and turns that make you go crazy. The saddest part with the ending. Just when you think things are finally going to be going good for Sydney, things take a unexpected and bad turn. Her and Vaughn were suppose to be happy and then suddenly she has been gone for three years and now hes married. One of the best episodes of the series.
  • Woohoo Clones everywhere.

Poor Will he never really had much of a chance at all did he. Well Syd did tell him so long ago to just drop it with Danny's death but he couldn't and the next thing you know Syd is finding him bloody in a bathtub too.

Always good to see Syd in a fight and her brawl with Allison definately qualifies as a mega-fight in the show. Jack did a nice thing for Marshall and Vaughn made reservations. My only real issue is that he reveals to her that it has been two years since the fight and he's already wearing a wedding ring. Um HELLO!!! Two years is not enough time to get over a relationship like he seemed to have with Syd and it should have taken him at least 6 months just to kinda deal with her death. This means he was knockin boots pretty quick after her quasi-death. Tsk Tsk Vaughn, I thought you were better than that.
  • Sydney is confronted by her mother and Sydney learns who the real double is.

    "Perfect"
This episode was the perfect season finale. There was so much drama and tension. Sydney is finally confronted by her mother, she discovers Francie has been doubled and they fight, but she wakes up two years later in Hong Kong and discovers Vaughn with a ring on his finger. It was the perfect episode. The writers are very good at writing Alias' script. They are really very talented. I still cannot believe nobody knows where she's been for the past two years. Many people believed she was dead, like Vaughn, who soon after found a wife. This episode was a perfect installment to the series.
  • Vaughn: Syd...since that night...you were missing for almost two years

    "Perfect"
This is possibly one of the best season finales ever made.... Who am i kidding it is the best season finale ever made. It had everything from fights to shock cliffhangers.

The highlight being that kick ass fight scene as the episode reaches its climactic finish. The fight between Sydney and Allison was similar to Buffy's fight with Faith. And i love the fact that Syd got hurt i hate it when the hero is never really hurt and wins quite easily.

After the fight Syd wakes up in an ally way (with the odd strey cat passing by)in different cloths and all cuts gone. This had my mind racing as to what the hell was going on and it only got stranger. Until Vaughn explained that she had been missing for almost 2 years, at this point my mine couldn't handle any more but still left me wandering. Where was she for 2 years? Who kinapped her & what is that scar on her abdomen from?

This is the best season finale i ever watched and i sure it will not be topped for a long time, it truly deserves a 10 out of 10. Great job J.J.
  • Simply put: pure genius. One of the best season finales ever made for TV. Mind blowing!

    10
    "Perfect"
Unarguably, this season finale marks the end of a roaller coaster season, and manages to do that in the best and most impressive of ways.

This is not going to be a recap of the episode, as that would spoil the entire episode for people like me, who are just watching the series on DVD (by the way thank you Buena Vista for ruining the entire season with that advertisement on the first disc).

As a whole, this episode (and the previous one) kept me on the edge of my seat. So many things happened, things that were due from the middle of the season (think Phase One). All storylines were given the proper closure (maybe with the excpeption of Irina, but that was for another reason) and characters we loved said their permanent(?) goodbyes. And rightfully so, as many times their respective parts did not qualify for a meaty storyline.

All in all, exceptional writting, breath taking direction, flawless acting (props to Jennifer Garner) to a season that built momentum towards this masterpiece of a finale.
  • Alias 2nd season finale -> I LOVED IT

    9.9
    "Superb"
I really loved this episode. It was so exciting! A lot of things happen in just a chapter and it resolves a lot of questions that hadn't been answered before. Now we know what Irina was doing in the CIA (though I really think that she loves Sydney).

The fight between Syd and Francie was so great, the actrees that plays Francie did a great job, because she is not used to do those things as Jennifer is, so se really put a lot of herself.

And the end... one of the best season finale that I have ever seen, poor Sydney!! I couldn't imagine what was about to happen, it just lets you so amazed. (I think I didn't really know the meaning of that word until I saw 2x22!)

I am so sad that Lena Olin left the show because she did a great job in ALIAS and she is a great actrees, I love the way that she knows how to "say" things without words. I hope she goes back soon someday.

I live it in a 9,9 because it made me sad, and in the end we know nothing about Francie, but the chapter is just incredible.

  • The best season finale I have ever watched.

    10
    "Perfect"
Out of all the drama's & series finale's that I have watched, the season finale of Alias is the best finale ever until now. I was on the edge of my seat for one full hour.

The episode starts off with Will being caught by the CIA, and then cleared by a DNA sample that Irena sent to them. But wouldn't it have been obvious that the DNA sample was female? And how cute that Will's password is Sydney.

Poor Will, stabbed by evil Francie, I mean Alison. Did she have feelings for him? It looked like it because she was crying as she stabbed him.

Irena finally reveals to Sydney that turning herself in to the CIA was all a plan so that she could aquire the Rambaldi artifacts that the NSA had. Jack was right about her all along. It seems like Sloan betrayed her though or maybe she just wanted to get rid of him and keep all the Rambaldi pieces for herself, so she told Syd where to find the pieces he had. So now the quwstion is, did Irena betray Syd & the CIA again so that Sloan could take the pieces they had or was she really trying to get rid of Sloan?

Sark was cool, he admited that his loyalties are flexible. And he was romantically involved with Evil Francie? Was that a hint of jealousy I detected? Interesting.

Another unanswered question, what is that Rambaldi device & what is it supposed to do?

The fight between Sydney & evil Francie was cool. But what happened to Syd afterwards? Where was she for 2 years? Who kinapped her & what is that scar on her abdomen from? An operation? tests? I have a feeling that somehow Irena was behind her dissapearance, I can't say I'd ever be surprised when it comes to Irena. Maybe that Rambaldi device with Sloan played a part? Who knows.

At first I thought Syd might have been missing for a few days or weeks but when a marrried Vaughn walked in & told her it had been almost 2 years I was speachless.

  • amazing from beginning to end!

    9.8
    "Superb"
This episode was fantastic. It was thrilling as are most of the alias episodes.what i love most is the last 20 minutes of the episode. From when Irina jumps off the roof to when sydney wakes up in hongkong and being told my a now married vaughn that shes been missing for almost two years. The whole fight senquence was amazing and i knew it took them a few days to make it.I love how most of it was silent and the only noise was either when something broke(which was practically everything) and the sound thats made evrytime someone gets kicked in the face on this show. but it was great and francis/alisons face was just priceless when she was shot. and did anyone else get goose bumps up their arms when sydney woke up and how terrified she looked when vaughn told hers shes been gone and then they just end it making everyone just wish they could see how this is going to unfold next season beacuse it just leaves sooo many questions!
  • OMG!

  • An episode where the least expected happens, but you are more than satisfied to admit: Alias is the best.

    10
    "Perfect"
Now this is an episode where you might get a little frustrated, but you will face the truth: Better plot twist can't be found. The writers overcame themselves. So many unanswered questions, and yet you are more than satisfied.

This is the endgame. Irina is on something big, manipulating both CIA and Sloane. Sloane has now all the 47 artifacts of Rambaldi, and he can assemble the greatest invention. He also has Jack, which was captured along with the Di Regno heart, the 47th artifact.

Irina wants the CIA to get those artifacts, but Sloane knows it.

Will is cleared from being a double, but then, who is the double? He managed to find the Provacilium in the bathroom, and now he knows: Francie is the double. Or should we call her, Allison Doren.

Sloane managed to escape with all the artifacts again. Irina's gone. Sark is captured. Sydney apparently killed Allison, but then collapses as well.

We wake up in Tokyo. Two years have passed. Sydney doesn't have a clue why she's there or what happened. Vaughn is married. Sydney was missing for 2 years - presumed dead.

This is the best end for a season. We are sure that most of these problems will be solved in the next season. This Is the biggest scenario that we wanted to have. We also got our action when Sydney and Fracie fought. Our nerves are burnt down. We will wait. Yes we will…
  • best ever episode

This episode is totally amazing. I just love watching it again and again. This is exactly why I watch Alias. Action with the missions, mysteries and revelations, fights and the amazing cliffhanger, the best in Tv history : sydney wakes up and learns she has been missing for almost two years.

I also love the fight scene between Sydney/Allison. The best girl fight ever. It was totally surprising, and JG and MD were just perfect, and I like it because Sydney is injuried, it's not like other tv series where the hero is never really hurt and wins quite easily. This time, I thought Sydney was going to get seriously hurt.
  • oooh my gosh!

i was totatly excited about this episode, i never think what happened to sydney. She was missing 2 years!!!! it's perfect! ! ! ! ! .

  • The best episode of Season 2.

This episode is without a doubt the best of the second season. Lena Olin was terrific in this episode, you didn't know whether she could be trusted or not. The Fight scene between Sydney and Francie was amazing. The best part of the episode was the shocking cliffhanger that Sydney had been missing for 2 years.
