Episode Recap

Sydney is sent to Oxford to steal a clock Rambaldi had commissioned. Anna Espinosa from K-Directorate is there, but Sydney is successful.

Jack and Sloane discuss the death of Eloise Kurtz. It turns out that Jack hired her to impersonate Kate Jones but as she was an inexperienced field agent, Sloane had her 'retired'. Sloane is worried about Will's investigation and wants to 'retire' him also. Jack commits to leading Will off track, or he'll kill Will himself.

Sydney and her professor discuss her latest paper. He is not pleased with how many classes she has missed and gave her a D on her paper. He gives her until Friday to revise it. She adds more soul to the paper and Francie turns it in for her by the deadline.

Sydney realizes she is being followed and takes the man down. He turns out to be an employee of SD-6. She confronts Sloane and wants to know why he authorized a tracker to follow her. He explains that it is standard procedure. Sydney and her father speak in secret and she learns that Sloane knows a virus was planted in the computer system and he believes that SD-6 has a mole. Jack warns Sydney that she will have to take a functional imaging test, a lie-detector test that monitors the blood flow in your brain. He urges her to work with Vaughn, so that she can pass the test. She practices with Vaughn but fails his test. One question he asks is if she is romantically interested in anyone. She says no, but the test shows she lied. Vaughn seems pleased with that.

Will's editor forces him to interview Sydney about Danny's death for the article, or she is giving the story to someone else. He tries to talk to Sydney about it, but after seeing that she is still wearing her engagement ring, decides it will hurt her too much and doesn't say anything. Jack changes the passenger manifest for the flight Danny was on with Kate Jones and Will's editor suggests that he made the story up. She says if he does it again, he'll lose his job. Will defends himself, but to no avail. Then he receives a lead. He searches the car belonging to Eloise Kurtz and finds a pin that turns out to be high-grade surveillance equipment. He's back on the story.

Sydney takes the clock to Italy to have it fixed. K-Directorate shows up and once again Sydney narrowly escapes.

Back home, Sydney finds KGB-type code embedded in the pages of an old book of her mother's, that was a gift from her father, leading her to believe that her father was a double agent.

Marshall fits the glass disk Sydney recovered from Spain into the clock and finds a star chart, that when used in conjunction with the date in the clock, gives specific coordinates. Before Sydney and Dixon leave for their next mission, Sydney takes the lie-detector test. She pauses before answering no to the "are you a double-agent" question. Carl later informs Sloane that he thinks he found the mole.

Sydney and Dixon search Mount Aconcagua and find a tunnel marked with the Rambaldi sign. Sydney ventures down the ladder and discovers Rambaldi's journal. While she's down there, K-Directorate shows up and she hears gunshots when Dixon tries to warn her via the walkie-talkie. As she tries to escape, she is confronted by Anna and gets shot twice. Anna begins the ascent up the ladder, with the journal. Sydney, wearing a bullet-proof vest, recovers and begins to follow her. Another fight ensues and Anna kicks her off the ladder, sending Sydney plunging backwards into the blackness.
