In an early scene when Sydney is speaking with the team on the plane about their plan of attack, her hair is straight and her makeup is light. In the next scene arguably a few hours later, Sydney's make-up is noticeably heavier and her hair looks as though it was just curled. It is very strange that Sydney would have time to do her hair and makeup in the middle of a mission. Not to mention she would have had to have a curling iron to curl her hair.
In the end of the episode when Sydney hears her mother's earrings beeping she uses a piece of paper to write down and encode the message sent. She writes and decodes the entire message with no problem. However, being that it took a while for her to get to the earrings, why would she be able to write down the entire message at once? She should have at least had some of the letters written more than once before decoding it properly.
Goof: In the scene when Sydney is aiming her gun at Irina before she shoots her, we see Irina look back at Sydney, seemingly knowing that Sydney would hesitate to shoot her. However, if you look at her shoulder when they show the close up of her face twice before Sydney shoots her, you can already see the blood on her shoulder.
Irina uses a Swedish accent when talking to the adminstrator of the human genome profiling company. This may have been a nod to Lena Olin's homeland Sweden.
Goof: When Irina is copying the files onto the disc, the message on the screen reads: 'Das Bringen Ordnet... Ein' - which makes no sense whatsoever. It roughly translates to: 'The acquiring is arranging... On'.
When Sark used the defib unit to take out Irina's transmitter, wouldn't that have stopped her heart as well? He would then need to use it on her again, but this is not seen (unless it happened quickly when they cut between scenes).
About shooting and ear protection: No immediate harm is done to the ears, but the repetitive shock to the ear drum can cause permanent damage if done without protection for long periods of time.
It sure seems as if Emily has all of her fingers in several shots of both her hands throughout the episode. Did they find a new one to sew back on, after she and Arvin cut one off to make her disappearance look convincing?
Emily: (To Sloane) What are we doing here with a woman who died 20 years ago?
Kendall: (to Jack, after finding out about the passive transmitter) Let me be blunt, Jack. I accepted your recommendation to trust Derevko because you made a strong argument. A personal one. An argument which I now understand you didn't believe, or you would've never gone through the trouble of placing a passive transmitter on that woman without informing me. It was my call to let her out, and I stand by that decision. But you blindsided me, you son of a bitch. And your pretense of an apology doesn't do either of us any good.
Jack: Your mother betrayed us. Betrayed the CIA. Her meeting with Sloane was staged to secure her escape.
Sydney: You don't know that. Sloane could've set up the meet to abduct her.
Jack: Before the operation, she swapped the Rambaldi manuscript. She left us with a fake. She and Sloane are now in possession of the original. Sydney, they planned this.
Sydney: Just now, when my dad was telling me, the first thought I had was that she was dead, that she'd been killed. I had this whole thing in my head that she died proving herself a hero.
Dixon: No one can be blamed for trusting their own mother.
Sydney: I wish that she had been killed.
Sydney: (About Irina) You were right to investigate her.
Sydney: No, it's okay. It's the truth. I'm not blaming you, it's me. I was so naive about her.
Vaughn: I don't think you should be a part of this task force. Look, you know how I feel about Irina Derevko but no one should have to hunt down their own mother, no matter what the circumstances are.
Sydney: She was never my mother.
Vaughn: Do you want to believe that?
Sydney: Don't do this to me again, don't condescend me.
Vaughn: It's not what I'm doing, you know that, but if you corner her and you hesitate to pull the trigger, even for one second, it could cost you your life. (Sydney puts her glasses and ear plugs back on)
Sydney: I won't hesitate.
Irina: I see through you. You must know that.
Sloane: This is who I am.
Irina: You may need to think of yourself as an honorable husband, a father figure, but I don't. I will never see that man in you, which frankly is why we have this agreement.
Sloane: You need to get some rest.
Irina: Never talk to me about your love for Sydney again.
