I live in Altoona WI where they had originally wanted the show to take place. The city board passed.. why?

Because believe it or not out community is very diverse we indeed have Muslim churches here there is no culture clash.

Also the WI accent on the show is not really accurate I have only met about two people here that talk like that.

Well, the only one actually from Wisconsin is Amy [Frannie] and personally, I think she's the only one with an accent. Everyone else is pretty much accent free. Possibly from learning to speak without an accent, and possibly because none of them are actually from Wisconsin, minus Amy.

It's funny because I always thought Frannie's accent was supposed to be Scottish.

I thought she was spoofing the Sheriff from Fargo. I actually spent some time around folks in Dakota and I felt the Fargo film accent was hugely exaggerated then Fran takes it even more over the top. Maybe it's a bit like people muddling all English, Scots, Welsh and Irish accents together and having them played by a Kiwi or a Canadian because no one will notice - right? Fargo is just outside downtown Wisconsin isn't it?
