Aliens in America

Sometimes, I think Aliens in America is a real guilty pleasure. Something that ain't that funny, but keeps you glued to the screen anyway. It's lame, it never reeeeeally makes you laugh out loud, it's a series you wouldn't recommend to your friends. But you watch it anyway every week. This show was touching in the first episode, where Raja and Justin were emotionally trying to adapt to their new family, but it's now totally steered away in the wrong direction.



And this was certainly the case this episode. Justin finally becomes popular with all the unpopular kids when Raja picks Justin as the victim for the school's drunk-driving. Popular kids and unpopular kids forced to work together was one of those plotlines that again, were not that entertaining. Claire and Franny were certainly more amusing. With this whole deal about Franny lying to Claire about having a sex toy, and telling Claire she was in fact the proud owner of a potato masher. Mrs.Lockard indeed received what to her, seemed like a potato masher.



Justin's funeral at first was missing the geeks, the emos, the goths and the stoners, but the story ended with Justin going back to be a sober driver at the other one.

Raja helps plan a function where a student has a fake death as a result of drinking and driving, in order to promote the end of drinking and driving. Raja picks Justin to be the student, even though only the popular kids are picked every year. Justin won't back down and in the process, he loses sight of the main purpose. Dan Archer "dies" too and everyone goes to his funeral instead of Justin's. Justin realizes how wrong he was. Franny gets a party favor at a bachelorette party. It's a sex toy, but she won't admit it to Claire. Claire tries to prove her wrong. Franny even goes as far as giving one away to a retiring teacher to prove that it's a potato masher.



This episode was really good! I like the Justin/Raja story. It was meanfingful and entertaining! The Franny/Claire plot was a little too inappropriate to me. All in all, I give it a 9.5!
