  • Margaret is arrested the night before her LSAT\'s.

Margaret gets arrested the night before she is supposed to take her entrance exam for law school. She calls her grandmother to bail her out (the rest of the family is out for ice cream). When grandma arrives in jail, she tries to haggle for Margaret\'s bail. She ends up hitting the police officer and then getting arrested herself.

While Margaret is in jail, she thinks about why this is happening to her. The only appeal law has to her is to make a lot of money. She realizes she is not meant to be a lawyer, and decides not to take the exam.moreless

    • (Gramdma slams door as she enters the police station.)
Officer: Evening, Ma'am. May I help you?
Grandma: I'm here for my Grandaughter, and the meters running.
      Officer: Margaret Kim?
      Grandma: Bingo!
      Officer: Five hundred dollars bail.
Grandma: I give you one fifty.
Officer: I'm sorry ma'am. The amount is not negotiable.
      Grandma: (sighs) Two hundred.
Officer: Five hundred. No more, no less.
Grandma: (groans, waves her hand in disgust and starts to leave, then comes back to the desk.) You gotta haggle! Two fifty.
Officer: Ma'am, does this look like a flea market to you?
      Grandma: No. Definitely not.
Officer: Good. Then we understand each other?
Grandma: Oh yes. Three hundred. Final offer.
Officer: Look lady, if it were up to me you could have her for nothin'. 'Cause frankly, I think she's a big pain.

    • Gloria: You know, I just realized something. I'm single, charming, statuesque, and I'm spending my only night off watching Margaret study for her law school admissions test. So, to spice up the evening, I've placed poison in one of our coffees. Enjoy.
Margaret: Cool. (sips coffee) I didn't get it.
Gloria: Me neither. Just my luck.
(Ruthie gasps and slumps forward on the table.)
Margaret: That's funny, Ruthie never keels over dead when she drinks my coffee.
