Mrs Hall goes away for a couple of weeks to look after a sick cousin. James acts as locum for Stewart Brannen, an overworked vet who needs a holiday with his family. Helen accompanies James, leaving Siegfried and Tristan to 'batch' together. Tristan hones his culinary skills - bangers and mash - on Siegfried. Mrs Holroyd, Stewart Brannen's slovenly housekeeper, introduces James to 'Mr. Pymerov'. Kim the dog injures his leg badly.
