The first time you can follow James Harriet's life in Yorkshire is wonderfully filmed and well presented. James' character shows really what is in him even in the first episode. Some of the main characters (Mrs Holden & Siegfried and also Biggins!!) are introduced, some like Helen (his later wife) have a bit like a cameo appearence.
James struggles to be a vet in a time when hardly any new vets had a proper job and therefore he travels from Glasgow to Yorkshire. He was offered the job by Siegfried but on arrival James noticed that it's not Siegfried's strong point to keep appointments and therefore he has to wait.
While he waits he meets the infamous Mr. Biggins - great character!! - who never really knows whether he should call the vet or not. James also learns quickly that the farmers don't part well with their money.
All in all a wonderful starting point to a very enjoyable series. If you haven't watched this episode yet, DO IT NOW!!
