Michael Stivic (1971-1978)
Gloria Stivic (1971-1978)
In this episode, Edith begins to talk in detail about the film Rose Marie with Jeanette McDonald, which she claims she saw seven times. However, she assigns the name Rose Marie La Flamme to Jeanette McDonald's character, which is not what her name was in the film (it was Marie La Flor). This is such a significant difference that had Edith seen the film even once she would not have confused it - evidently a flaw on the part of the writers.
Archie: Edith, we're Bunkers. Us Bunkers have to stick together!
Edith: Well, I'm sorry, Archie. But motherhood is stronger than Bunkerhood!
Gloria: Oh, forget it, 'ma. He's never said 'sorry' once in his whole life.
Archie: I did once. The day you married that guy!
Edith: For what you did just now, I'm not so sure who married the Meathead. Gloria or me?
Archie: Archie Bunker don't apologize to nobody.
Edith: And that's the way it always is. See, Archie, Gloria loves Mike the way I love you. And Gloria loves you the way I love my father. And Gloria loves Mike the way my mother loves my father the way Mike loves Gloria.
Archie: Are you done?
Archie: I got the gas and electricity here.
Mike: I know you got the gas.
Archie: (to Mike) The only thing you remember to turn on is my daughter.
Archie: Without no power, your toilet is just a chair with a hole in it!
This episode was videotaped on August 29, 1975.
This was not the first time Mike had angrily retaliated toward Archie the way he did. A very similar scene had occurred in an earlier episode, "Archie Goes Too Far".
