  • Classic Moment!

    9.5
Archie gets locked up when he goes down to the UN to try to find Mike and bring him back home because the city is expecting trouble. There is some great dialogue when Lionel comes over to tell Mike get isnt going because of the expected violence. Archie starts saying some really funny stuff about black people having to act right and not be seen at protests. This convinces Lionel to go after all lol.

When Mike and Gloria get to the station to get Archie they meet the Polish seargant(played by barnie) Archie gets out and calls Mike a dumb Polack it is CLASSIC!! I am an All in the Family fanatic and I think this is definitely a classic moment!moreless

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • Allan Melvin , who guest stars as Sgt. Pulaski in this episode, plays the role of Barney Hefner ( Archie's buddy) in future episodes.

  • QUOTES (2)

    • (When Archie is in the lock-up, he shows a policeman his American flag pin on his coat.)
      Policeman: Looks nice. How much?
Archie: I don't want to sell it! I'm wearing this because I'm an American!
Policeman: Well, so am I. (points to the protestors) And so are they.
Archie: But I'm not one of THEM! I was just an innocent stand-by!
Policeman: Are you saying that the police department arrests innocent civilians?
      Archie: I never said that!
Policeman: I thought you said you were an American.
      Archie: I am!
Policeman: Then don't be hiding behind the American flag, Bunker, to smear the police!
      (Policeman leaves.)
      Archie: Overpaid kuncklehead.

    • Archie: Listen, nobody in this country gets arrested unless they deserve it! As long as you don't call cops "pigs" and all those other "epiletts"...

  • NOTES (1)

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • While Archie was thrown into jail, one of the protesters had a radio playing in the cell and the song Jesus Christ Superstar ( by Murray Head)was playing. That song was from one of the hottest Broadway Musicals at that time and even the album was hot because it hit #1 on Billboard's Album chart in the spring of 1971 !
