The single beer that Hank brings over for Archie mysteriously appears and reappears outside the paper bag it was in after Hank sets it on the little table between the Bunkers' chairs.
As Archie lays in the hospital bed, Mike comes in to visit and the cover to the tray in front of Archie keeps changing with the lid either tilted to the side or covering the tray without being touched until Mike eats the dinner.
Archie: (when Edith encourages him to take his antibiotics) That medicine would defoliate a wire brush.
Archie: (when his wife's simply trying to comfort him) Edith, you're makin' my scar hurt.
Mike: You're not alone, Arch. You got me, Ma, Gloria, and Joey. Archie: Aw, what a have! A meathead, a dingbat, a women's libber, and a little bald kid.
Archie: I'll tell you something else about that guy, Carter. He takes that big smile out of his face every night before he goes to bed.
Sally Struthers does not appear in this episode.
In the final scene Archie is wondering aloud to Edith whether it was dangerous for him to have gotten angry with God, and he alludes to Job. Job was a man in the Bible who questioned God while undergoing tremendous suffering.
