  • While Mike, Gloria and Archie are at the Stivic's home preparing a surprise 50th birthday party for Edith, a rapist, posing as a police detective, makes his way into the Bunker home and sets his sights on Edith.

I have been a fan of All in the Family ever since I first saw the show as a kid. However I just recently saw this episode in its entirety for the first time. It's very difficult for me to watch because it's so unsettling (though I admit that is the whole point). The late David Dukes gives a frighteningly realistic performance as the rapist. So realistic that he scared me! Needless to say Jean Stapleton gives yet another excellent performance. The one liability is the character of Cybil Gooley. A totally unnecessary part of an otherwise truly excellent episode.

on edith's birthday, she is visited by a man who wants to rape her. she tries to escape but the man threatens to hurt her, maybe even kill her. will she figure out a way out of this mess?

great episode, sad in some areas, but edith's way of escaping was a great scene (Throwing the cake in the guy's face). definitely a great episode of the show, i think, it had some humor and was a very scary type of plot but the execution was great, and so because of all this the episode gets an A+ from me
