Stepanie Mills was also the name of a popular singer and actress at the time, who starred as Dorothy in the Broadway musical "The Wiz". She also released several hit records, the most popular being "I Never Knew Love Like This Before"
The episode title is misleading, since Stephanie is from Edith's side of the family. In fact, she's not even a blood relative of Edith.
Archie: (to Floyd, after Stephanie says she has to go to the "john") You think you could have taught her to say "terlett" like educated people.
Floyd: Gee, I hate to ask for help.
Archie: Well that's good, 'cause I hate to give it.
This episode was videotaped on August 25, 1978.
Archie and Edith's opening credit scene at the piano has changed again. This time Archie is wearing a green sweater and he sounds rather irritated this time around. The piano sounds a little louder. During the closing credits, we seem to hear a different piano. Plus, the voice of Rob Riener announcing how All In The Family was recorded has, of course, been replaced by the voice of Carroll O'Connor.
Sally Struthers and Rob Reiner are no longer featured amongst the opening credits and this is the only season this happens. Danielle Brisbois is now added in their place.
Danielle Brisbois is credited as a regular in the opening credits for her role of Stephanie Mills.
