This is the only episode where we see Irene and Frank Lorenzo's kitchen in the series.
This is the second time Irene has showed up and given Mike advice on family planning after a fight erupted between him and Gloria about bringing a child into the world. The first time was in Season Five's episode "Gloria's Shock" and Irene suggested adoption. In this episode, Irene's counsel is different as she presents Mike with a quote from Alistair Cooke that states no generation should worry so much about its present troubles that they would miss out on the opportunity to bounce a baby.
Archie: You're okay there, Meathead.
Gloria: Michael Stivic, you come back here this instant. Michael! I love you. (beginning to cry) You forgot your coat. WAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!
Mike: (complaining about Gloria forgetting her birth-control pills, resulting in pregnancy) She knows accidents can happen! Irene: It seems to me that you were at the scene of that accident, and not as an innocent bystander.
Beginning with this episode, they use a new opening credit scene with Archie and Edith at the piano. Edith no longer wears glasses, and at the end of their opening song "Those Were The Days," Edith puts her head on Archie's shoulder.
