According to the quiz, Edith will outlive Archie. Ironically, Edith passes away from a stroke on Archie Bunker's Place, leaving Archie a widower.
The final joke of this episode has Archie push Mike's face into the cake and Mike (being Mike) eating the frosting instead of wiping it off. But as the camera angle changes you can see Rob Reiner spit the blob of icing back into his hand just as the shot fades out.
This is the only episode where we see Irene and Frank Lorenzo's kitchen in the series.
This is the second time Irene has showed up and given Mike advice on family planning after a fight erupted between him and Gloria about bringing a child into the world. The first time was in Season Five's episode "Gloria's Shock" and Irene suggested adoption. In this episode, Irene's counsel is different as she presents Mike with a quote from Alistair Cooke that states no generation should worry so much about its present troubles that they would miss out on the opportunity to bounce a baby.
In this episode, Edith begins to talk in detail about the film Rose Marie with Jeanette McDonald, which she claims she saw seven times. However, she assigns the name Rose Marie La Flamme to Jeanette McDonald's character, which is not what her name was in the film (it was Marie La Flor). This is such a significant difference that had Edith seen the film even once she would not have confused it - evidently a flaw on the part of the writers.
The Stivics had different types of phones in various episodes. This episode they have a yellow push button, in another episode they have a yellow Archer rotary dial, in another episode they have a yellow rotary dial phone, in where Mike is accepted a teaching job in California they have a almond push button phone.
In the episode in which Mike and Gloria are fighting, right after the babysitter cancels, a large shadow moves very noticeably up and down behind them on the bookshelves and walls.
The quote that Mike reads during the wedding is the same quote that Reverend Chong reads at the double wedding in "The Stivics Go West." Gloria says it's the quote that Mike read at their original wedding.
This is the only time we see Archie change Joey's diaper.
In the final scene on the porch both Archie and Edith realize that they never even knew Mr. Bernstein's first name. The end credits revealed it to be Bernard.
This is the second time somebody dies under Archie's roof; the first was Cousin Oscar in the first season.
In this episode, Archie tells the watchmaker that he is an only child. However, in a later episode, Archie's brother Fred comes to town.
This was Burt Muston's last appearance on "All In The Family". His brief speech at the end to Archie is almost like a valedictorian speech. He says, "Take my advice and don't wind up just a fat memory in somebody's wallet. You stick to that diet, Bunker, and you'll live long enough to dance at your grandson's wedding."
In the scene in which Gloria comes in the door with the stroller, Edith tilts the bassinet that is supposedly holding Joey as she's walking up the stairs, and you can see that there's no baby in it. There's just a blanket.
Quigley is proud of the fact that he's in good shape for 92, but in the episode "Archie Feels Left Out"—just a couple of seasons ago—Quigley was about to turn 83!
To leave a baby, even in colder weather, on the porch was common in the 70s. I am from Chicago and it was done here alot. Just bundle the kid up real good and stick him outside.
You notice when Archie and Edith are in the house they leave Joey outside on the front porch didn't they realize that he could've been kidnapped?
We learn that sherry in the 1970's (and in New York City, no less) costs 70 cents per glass in a bar.
The song that everyone sings in Kelsey's is the drinking version of "The Anniversary Waltz."
The song Edith plays on the piano at Kelsey's Bar is "As Time Goes By" from the classic film Casablanca.
