  • Jack's apartment burns down; begining of the end for Nelson; interesting development between Cate and Chris.

    8.0
The episode opens with Jack in the back of an ambulance with his duplex neighbour Mary. Their house has burnt to the ground and they've lost everything, which is worse for Mary because she has no-one to depend on. Jack starts off by saying he and Mary barely know each other, but in the course of the episode Mary reveals insights about Jack that make us - and him - realise he's actually quite fond of her - and he's very lonely. He's always been incredibly focused on his work, and kind of anti-social as a consequences, and I can't help but wonder how much his relationship with Deanna made him isolate himself even more.

Chris and Cate get a patient from an emergency call from Alaska - a friend he was chatting to called them. The patient has completely clammed up about his myriad of medical problems, and it turns out he's agorophobic (fear of open spaces) and has brought the medical problems upon himself. Chris and Cate take it upon themselves to break into the patient's house to work this out. Chris seems to be encouraging Cate's renegade side, which makes me think they're setting them up together. Pity, I think she and Jack would make a good couple.

Nelson's struggling to handle things, the stress of two jobs on top of everything else getting too much for him. Paul Tassone confirmed to TV Week that he felt Nelson's character development had run its course so I guess this is bye-bye to the second-longest character. I really hope he pops up from time to time so we know what's happened to him.

Vincent has also left, although I think this is only for a few months. I think this will give Chris a greater job to do, and I got the feeling they were priming Jack to take Vincent's place as well. I hope so, I have something of a soft spot for him :p

Jack gets offers from practically everyone in the ward to move in with them, which I thought was nice. He hasn't made much of an effort to really belong to the ward socially, except to get involved with Terri, Deanna etc, so I thought it was nice that, regardless, they would reach out to him in his time of need. Of everyone, I'm glad he's decided to move in with Dan. I got the feeling Dan's a little lonely now that Jess is gone and could do with the company, and maybe it's because he has a penchant for pursing older woman, but Jack could really do with a male friend his age. Plus, I always got the feeling there was some residual tension between him and Nelson over Terri, and something between him and Charlotte leftover from the pregnancy. Hopefully having someone for constant company will make him more sociable and more part of the team.

Someone commented that they've been getting rid of a lot of characters lately; Jess, Nelson, Vincent (although prob only for a few months) and Deanna (only signed on for thre months thought); I wonder if Southern Star is trying to get rid of it's older characters, who I assume are the highest paid? Maybe Wil, Tammy and Alexandra should be watching their backs!

Quite enjoyed this episode, although I'd like to see more women running the show like in Brothers in Arms. I give it 8.moreless
  • You can see nelson is leaving. Damn.

    8.3
Nelson is leaving. My fave character. They totally kill off his charcters spirit. The murder, the accusations, Deanna all make Nelson a very unstable person.

Another thing about this ep. The man who wouldnt come out of the house. Why stay in there its like living with ghosts and the pizza wouldnt be good for you (lack of nutrients) just watch the house ep with the burgers.

Third, Jack Jack Jack. Youre screwed in the head your house is destroyed and youre living with clowny and you look at your arm? Maybe you cant feel in it then youre the danger?

By the way whats with political correctness here? I cant say Sjitzo (swap j and k)moreless
