  • Deanna and Frank are enemies and a storyline they've already done.

    5.7
I know some issues come up in hospitals more than once, but this episode was along the same lines as the one in season 2 about the Jehovah's Witness not accepting blood.

The Frank vs Deanna issue is wearing a bit thin with me - personally I've had enough of the Deanna character and I think that it is time that she left the series.

Everything is just so - easy to do in this episode. Frank as always had some good one-liners, but they really will need a good story to pick the series back up off it's feet.

You need to watch it to know what happens - doesn't mean you need to enjoy.moreless
  • Good medical storyline, hated the Deanna/Frank storyline.

    6.0
Ugh, HATED the Frank/Deanna storyline. I wrote about it in more detail at: http://thehathorlegacy.info/another-one-bites-the-dust/

    but I\\\'ll summarise briefly here:

I thought Deanna was a decent character. A stickler for the rules, Ambitious and aggressive, absolutely. yeah. Prepared to be undermining at times, for sure. But she also seemed eager to integrate herself with the ward\\\'s social scene (only to be rebuffed because she was \\\'just Nelson\\\'s replacement\\\'), and I liked that she was shy and awkward with Jack. I thought she genuinely liked him and I thought it would be good for him to be with someone who wasn\\\'t always holding him at arm\\\'s length.

Basically, she\\\'s flawed, which sums up about 100% of us. I thought she could have been a great character to stir up tension from time to time without being a cold, manipulative you-know-what.

Except then she turns into a cold, manipulative you-know-what. Hated it. Didn\\\'t think it was in character. Could see her quietly extorting a glowing reference from Frank and going on her way, but not suing him for harrasment. It\\\'s counter-productive, and people like Deanna always look at what course of action is the most productive.

And I hated that she basically used Jack. I thought up til then she was genuinely fond of him and then she turns around and manipulates him into supporting her cause.

Totally OOC. On the plus side, I liked the JW storyline, it raised some interesting issues about respecting a person\\\'s religious beliefs vs saving a person\\\'s life. Disagreed with the father about the whole \\\'scratch a lapsed Catholic and you\\\'ll find a believer\\\' though. I used to be Catholic, and my spiritual beliefs are now something close to paganism. Scratch as hard as you like, baby, still a pagan.

I give this episode a six. Two for the Deanna/Farnk storyline, two for the JW storyline, and two 'coz Wil Traval is hot.moreless
  • Deanna is a cow!

    7.7
Boy Denna is a cow (not the word I really wanted to use) I think she might have a bit of a mental issue.

Will she stop at anything to get her own way? I mean no one (except Jack) even likes her because they can see what she is really like.

It would be hard to know if you should dismiss such allegations because if you start defending yourself it can make you look guilty even if you are not.

A very hard decision with the girl and the blood. I would hate to be the one to make it. I was very suspicious of the boyfriend from the start and I really felt for the father.moreless
