Controversy: After the airing of this episode, there was a bit of controversy surrounding the storyline involving the foetus with Down's syndrome. Complaints were made that the episode incorrectly linked Down's syndrome with being associated with incest.

Trivia: The worm which is found in the patients leg is called Dracunculiasis and is primarily found in Africa. It infects people when they ingest water which contains tiny fleas and larvae of the worm. The Worm can grow to up to 3 feet inside the human body, causing long term ill-effects. The person who hosts the worm may live with the affliction without knowing for up to a year.
Trivia: The fleshing eating bacteria that Bart diagnoses is called Necrotizing Fasciitis. It is a bacterial infection which destroys skin, soft tissue, fat and tissue surrounding the muscles. This bacteria is extremely rare, but can be very serious. Approximately 30% of those who contract the condition die from the disease.

Goof: When Frank is knocking loudly on Mike's door and Mike finally lets him in, the camera pans to the left to follow the action inside. As it pans it become obvious that Frank did not need to knock and scream at Mike to let him in, he just needed to go around to the side door (which was wide open) to get in.
