Gruber's little tank has the registration number WH215736
Madame Fanny's bedroom looks a little different - she had a new bed, and the alcove looks more spacious.
(wooing Edith) Bertorelli: First I must inspect-a the troops. Then I inspect-a the room-a. Then I inspect-a you.
Crabtree: You cannot pick your metercar outside this coffee. Bertorelli: Do not talk-a this way to me! Me, I am-a Captain Alberto Bertorelli, from conquering Italian army of Mussolini. Crabtree: Missaloony does not cut any ice around here, you must mauve along as quirkly as pissable.
Yvette: Do you not ache for me, just a little bit? Rene: From time to time I do get a little bit stiff but I put it down to age.
Helga: Be of good cheer, Herr Flick. Your assistant Von Smallhausen has a plan. Flick: This does not make me of good cheer. He is a barbarian twit.
(discussing Bertorelli's sleeping arrangements) Edith: He can sleep between Mimi and Yvette. Gruber: You French! Will I never understand you?
Yvette: Always he is wanting to take photographs of me wearing the flying helmet, brandishing the wet celery. Edith: Why would the colonel want such pictures? René: Well, celery is rare these days.
Herr Flick (in response to Helga's amorous request): What?!? Kiss me? Chained to the wall and dressed in the underwear of a woman?... Of course!
Fanny (seeing how Leclerc isn't pedaling fast enough): I know what to do... (shakes her leg, Leclerc pedals too fast)
From this episode onwards, there are a notable number of changes to the production credits. Assistant Floor Manager and Technical Co-ordinator have been added to the list, whilst the Production Team has been downsized to Production Assistant. Now the series is completely studio-based, Sound changes to Sound Supervisor and Lighting becomes Lighting Director.
Rather oddly, during the "You Have Been Watching" credits, we see Richard Gibson in character as Herr Flick, in his regular costume, entering the back room of the cafe. This is odd because at no point during the episode does he leave the dungeon.
With twenty-six episodes in production, this would have meant a prohibitively large amount of location filming. To save money and time, a very impressive standing set of the village square and the exterior of Cafe Rene was replicated at Elstree Studios, with the building costs spread across the budget for the twenty-six episodes. This meant that the whole series could now be made on videotape (as opposed to a mixture of videotape for studio scenes and film for outdoor sequences).
On the dvd (region 2) this episode is called "Desperate Doings in the Dungeon".
While the episodes in all the other seasons run a full 30 minutes, the episodes in this season only run 25 minutes. This is again because the episodes were co-produced by an American network and meant to be aired in America; it was then neccessary with a somewhat shorter running time to allow room for commercials.
Unlike all the other seasons, which only contain 6 to 8 episodes, this 5th season has 26 episodes. The reason for this is that this season was co-financed by an American network; intending to broadcast the episodes in America. However, the American network pulled out at the last minute but by then they had already payed for the production of all 26 episodes (a more ordinary episode number for a sitcom in America).
