Michelle discovers that the Communist Resistance are holding Hitler and Goering (in fact, Gruber and Von Strohm) and plans to meet with the opposition to discuss radio broadcast options. However, when the two factions meet, a fight breaks out between the women over Rene (of course). While the fight is taking place, Crabtree, Yvette and Alphonse attempt their own kidnapping of "Hitler" and "Goering" from the other side of the barn. They fail when an attempt to use a charging bull goes out of control. Gruber and Von Strohm escape in the confusion and head to the cafe. Meanwhile, Flick and Von Smallhausen face a close call at a firing squad for their alleged part in the pay truck robbery.moreless

Freed from the endless variations of one plot (how to get the airmen out of France) Allo Allo returned to form in this eighth season. Several plotlines are interwoven and the large cast of actors works well in different combinations. There seems to be more location work, which allows for better comedy editing and - again - more variety. The fight between the resistance girls in the barn offered a wonderful example of good directing. Only Crabtree's idea of having a bull charge into the barn reminds us of the somewhat stranger plans of the past. The competition between the different sections of the resistance is actually quite realistic for once, although it remains unclear why every French girl has the hots for Ren ...

Without doubt the best part of the episode is Gruber's impersonation of Hitler His constant switching between Gruber's fey personality and Hitler crazed larger than life character proves to be both laugh-out funny and - from an actor's perspective - quite amazing.moreless

    • Resistance girl: You will do everything we say or I will turn you over to my trusty lieutenant, and she will amuse herself with you. Louise: I will enjoy that. Colonel Von Strohm: (disguised as Göring) The Führer fears nothing a woman can do. Lieutenant Gruber: (disguised as Hitler) That is not exactly true.

    • (The girls of the different sections of the resistance are involved in giant fight.) Edith: Do you not think you should help? René: I think it more a spectator sport.

    • (Herr Flick and Von Smallhausen are about to be executed.) Von Klinkerhoffen: Blindfold? Von Smallhausen: No, I'm watching for the postman. Von Klinkerhoffen: Last request? Von Smallhausen: I would also like a final kiss from Helga. Actually, it would be my first. Von Klinkerhoffen: Request denied. Von Smallhausen: But you cannot deny me my last request, it is my right! Von Klinkerhoffen: Oh, very well then. (to Helga) Give him one. Helga: I should like to be blindfolded first.
