After the Colonel makes Ren promise not to hang out with the Rsistance anymore, Herr Flicks sausage (containing the forgery of the painting of the Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies) is kidnapped by the Rsistance, not the usual Rsistance, but the Communist Rsistance. The Colonel and the Captain are anxious that it doesnt come out that they have switched the paintings, and order Ren to come up with the ransom, which Edith gets from Monsieur Alphonse.

The ransom is to be left by Ren and his staff, dressed as German soldiers. But the whole thing is watched by German soldiers dressed as French policemen, the Gestapo dressed as French Rsistance girls, and the Colonel and the Captain dressed as trees. And of course, Lieutenant Gruber stumbles upon the meeting, and his dog cant help but chase the sausage.moreless
  • I probably re-watched "The Nicked Knockwurst" for the fourth time, but it is still as funny as the first time.

    9.0
    "Superb"
"The Nicked Knockwurst" must be one of my favorite Allo! Allo! episodes.

It opens with Rene taking a bath, being disturbed by his mother in law who wants to use the 'little girls room', LeClerc, Yvette bringing him 'big jugs', Edith and finally Michelle who falls off the drain pipe.

I also love the scene with the taylor with Herr Flick ripping off pieces of Helga's new clothes because they are "not good". Even when Helga protests she likes the skirt, he doesn't agree. The hat is fine though.

Other classic moments: The Communist resistance notifying people of the knicked knockworst by throwing stones at their heads; Crabtree informing Rene that Michelle fell off the 'drainpoop'; The airmen disguised as 'decrepit old bats'; Alfonse with the pepper mill (It's old but still works..)

And the final scene which shows a 'parade' of one of the dogs with the sausage, Gruber with the remaining dog (shouting "You naughty dog"), the people from the cafe disguised as Germans, the Gestapo disguised as resistance girls and the Germans disguised as trees, complete with photographing owl. How confusing.

But I guess you have to see it to appreciate it...moreless

    • Robin Carr joins the series as a production manager - he would go on to co-direct the next five episodes of the series with David Croft, who would not direct an episode solo again until series 4 episode 5.

    • Lisa Anselmi returns to the show, last seen (uncredited) as one of Michelle's Resistance girls in episode 1.7

    • The Communist Resistance returns, last seen in episode 1.6, last mentioned in episode 2.3. They are still low on funds, and display a fondness for delivering messages via bricks. We also discover that Michelle's Resistance do not take cheques.

    • John Louis Mansi returns as Flick's (now permanent) assistant Von Smallhausen. We learn that he lives in a "small but comfortable apartment over ze bakery".

    • We learn that Nouvion has a General Hospital.

    • The opening and closing credits are shown over shots of the village square outside Cafe Rene. From this series onwards, Lynford Hall was adopted as the home of Nouvion.
