Episode Summary

EDIT
The lawyers are shocked to discover Ling has been keeping a secret. Ally visits Dr. Butters at the hospital one day and sees he's treating a terminally ill little boy. The little boy, Eric Stall, sees Ally in the doorway and finds out that she is a lawyer. He asks if he can retain her services because he wants to sue God. Ally tries to tell him it's not possible, but Ling, who was at the hospital at the same time, overhears and tells the boy not to listen to Ally.moreless

  • It's my favorite Ally McBeal episode and the saddest one in the entire show.

    9.6
I remember watching the episode few years ago late at night and after its end,I just couldn't sleep because I was so emotionally moved by this episode.I couldn't stop crying after it because it gave me so many emotions-heartwarming and sad.The boy was so cute and Ally trying to help was one of the best moments television has ever had. No one saw it coming that Ling would cry for something but when I saw her crying I just started. It's actually one of the best and saddest episodes I have seen in my entire life.I will always remember it.Very few shows now can be delighted with such great episodes. It's a great episode of a great series.I indicate this episode as Ally McBeal's reaching its peak and highest quality.Simply the best.moreless

    • Ally: You are a lawyer.
Ling: But I don't practice. Practice causes wrinkles, look at you.

    • Ally: Maybe... Anyway, my mother knew that I'd figure out that He wasn't a blimp. So she changed the story a little and she told me that God had men make the blimp to remind people that He was out there watching. Cause that's all blimps do, they just look down. And still, to this day, I wonder a little. Maybe God had men make blimps, to remind people that he was up there.
Eric: I've never seen a blimp. Except on TV.
Ally: Well, God probably communicates with different people in different ways, and maybe he sent a blimp to me, but for you... Well, maybe the Red Sox will win the World Series this year, just to remind you that he's up there, looking...

    • Ling: (Bumps into a man in a wheelchair) Ow ! Watch where you're going, it's bad enough you people get all the parking spots!
Ally: Her first impressions aren't good but they're usually lasting.

    • (In hospital)
Ally: Ling! What are you doing here?
Ling: Oh, a friend of mine, I sent her flowers, but she died, so I came to take them back.
