    Hey,

While watching Ally McBeal clips on YouTube.com, I've notice that the show is in widescreen. It wasn't in widescreen when the show first aired in the U.S.

    Here is an example:

Therefore, my question is this: Are the DVDs of the show in widescreen? Please let me know. Thank you.

I downloaded a couple episodes of season five of one of the foreign releases (I think it was Belgium) and it was in widescreen. I know the episodes in English that you can download of the third season are in widescreen, but I don't think the first and second are. Did they change it like X-Files (which went from fullscreen to widescreen in its fifth season)?

I'm from Belgium and I have the show on dvd and I just checked. Season 1 is not widescreen, but season three is. Off course I haven't seen the original episodes so I don't know how it was when the episodes first aired.

I have all of the series on DVD and on the DVDs seasons 1 and 2 and 4 are not in widescreen but seasons 3 and 5 are.

I dont know why season 4 is not in widescreen when seasons 3 and 5 are.

4 is not?! That's horrible!! It says on IMDb that 1-2 are fullscreen and 3-5 are wide. Why would Season 4 not be? Lol I'm going to be obsessing over this now.

Actually, in Europe, the entire show was broadcasted in full screen on tv for the first broadcast.

The season 4 was the first one to be released on dvd.
For that season, Fox chose to preserve the ratio of the broadcasting : full screen.

Then, season 1 and 2 where release also in full screen.

Then, for season 3 and 5, the ratio wasn't preserved and the dvds were released in widescreen.

However, in the US, the show was only released recently and they released every season they could in widescreen : all except the first season

Ally McBeal is on Netflix, and Season One is the only season (of the five) that is not in widescreen.
