Episode Recap

The differences between the young new lawyers with the firm and the older, original members of Cage and Fish were at the center of tonight's show. John appeared frustrated with the "kids" as he referred to them, as well as being frustrated with his lack of a love life. Coretta notices this, and offers to help him with a male makeover, as she used to do to pay her way through law school. John later accepts, under the pretense of aiding a "friend." The transformation involves a body suit she designed, and a week away at a spa. Jenny's case against the phone companies turns into the deposition from hell, as they meet with her lead plaintiff, whom she has only spoken to over the phone. Claire Otoms (Dame Edna) turns out to be a rather odd character, with even odder things to say, involving love for all the lovely young people at the firm, a love of frankfurters, and acid reflux issues. In spite of a terrible deposition and another horrid day in court, Judge Walsh agrees to the suit on the terms of nuisance, but not harassment, as Jenny had originally filed. After feeling down about the state of the case, she perks up with this result. That, and encouragement from Glenn that the two of them can really work together. Ally continues to deny interest in Glenn, but finds it harder to argue as they talk. All of the Cage and Fish women are repulsed by his even more irritating and juvenile friend Raymond. Ling makes an off-hand remark, unknowingly, to the Governor of Massachusetts about her twins, and ends up getting offered a judgeship. After a day in court, watched laughingly by Nelle and Richard, she is later offered a television show for her judging abilities.
