Three intelligent, successful and motivated adults approach Judge Whipper Cone about the possibility of getting legal representation in their quest to have the courts approve a legal, binding, three-way marriage. Fish assigns Ally and Cage to the case, knowing Ally's incurable romanticism and Cage's legal acumen is a potent combination with Whipper assigned to the case. Ally is opposed, claiming the three-way relationship is morally repugnant, but Georgia, feeling punkish around the holidays, points out that the clients' triangle isn't very different from the one in which Ally, Georgia, and Billy find themselves. Georgia accuses Billy of being more relaxed and open in their marriage ever since Ally re-entered the picture. Whipper, herself experiencing an annual bout of Holiday Blues, causes Fish to propose marriage, even though both know he really doesn't want to.moreless

      • Ally: What made you stop believing in Santa? John: I actually believed until I was 12 years old. I just wouldn't give it up. Ally: What made you stop believing? John: My mother - she told me he fondled the elves. Some therapist told her that the first step was to at least undermine my admiration for him. Next year she told me he died - heart attack. On a stroll. I blamed myself for leaving the cookies... fat man trying to squeeze through a narrow chimney, and I taunt him with Oreos and a glass of whole milk. Ally: And you call me odd.

      • Ally: Relationships should be in twos, or at least even numbers!

      • Georgia: Do you just sniff trouble and seek it out? Elaine: Yes, and if there's any way I can complicate it...

      • (Elaine is singing "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" while Richard and Renee look on) Richard: You know if she caught her mom with Santa, she'd tell her father. Renée: In a second.

      • Georgia: (to Billy) I don't think you're being unfaithful, but I think there's little pockets of intimacy that you can't get to with me that you do get to with Ally.
