The case is about a 39-year-old woman having sex with a 16-year-old boy, and the statutory consequences. However, the age of consent in Massachusetts is 16, so the issue is moot.
In this episode Ally says she is a big fan of the Boston Red Sox. However, in Season 1, it seems she knows nothing at all about baseball. When Greg is moving to Chicago, she calls the Chicago Cubs the Chicago Cubbys and Greg has to explain to her that they are a baseball team.
Georgia: What's this ? Nelle: Initiation. Kidding ! Billy: I think... I'll let you finish Nelle: Listen, I know my nickname is sub-zero, and... people find me.. well umm cold. Georgia: Nelle, this can be a tough group, but we'll warm up..
Ally: It's as if he was talking about me. Tracy: Ally, with you everything is about you, but that's OK, narcissism is a wonderful thing. Ally: It is ? Tracy: Yeah, for me. Nuts like you heat my pool.
Laura Jewell: I won't say that it's right for a woman my age to be with... Does it matter that I may have loved him ? Ally: Not when he's 16.
(Looking at Nelle Porter) Georgia: Are they really gonna hire her? Elaine: How could they possibly? She's such a bitch! Georgia: You've talked to her? Elaine: No, why? Georgia: Well, sometimes it makes it easier to backstab if you've had at least one conversation. Elaine: She's smart and she's pretty, Georgia, what else do I need to know?
Elaine: (about Nelle) I hear that when she shakes hands, she won't stick hers out very far 'cause she wants to other person to meet her more than halfway.
Elaine: (about Nelle)Just so we're clear -- we hate her, right?
Richard: She's good, John -- this woman reminds me of me. Should we hire her? John: It's hard for me to be objective, I'm drawn to her. Richard: You have no chance, does that help?
Jason Tresham: Lonely people... they always have a look, a look that it could change any second, maybe with the next person that enters the room. Lonely people have hope, she didn't seem to. She was just sad, like she knew too much. Some people find love, permanent; some are just meant to be alone. She knew what she was.
Tracy: It can't last forever, of course not. But who made up the rule that the best loves do?
