  • A Show that has a lot of Potential

    "Great"
While definitely not the best tv show I watched, Alphas is nevertheless still one of my favorite shows, and one of the top sci-fi shows out there. True, there might be some boring episodes here and there, but I decided to watch it to the end (of season 1 currently), and I have to say that I absolutely loved it so far. It has elements from multiple tv shows: Heroes, House, X-Men, but they're all put together in a seamless way that actually works and makes me wanting to come back for more.

Yes, while I agree the show is not original and the concept has done before, but which show haven't? There are so few shows out there that are ever completely original.
The best part of the show in my opinion is the characters. Character development and analysis can be complex and might push you out of your comfort zone, but it makes you think, and all of the characters complement each other in each each of their ways. Their interactions are creative and entertaining, and I think that's what makes this show good.moreless
  • When will Alphas be back on air?

    "Perfect"
I really like the show & wondered when it's coming back with new shows.
  • Dont you hate the way that Nina walks!!

    4.0
    "Poor"
Does she know how to walk in heels? is she wearing shoes or rubber
springs? she just bounces about here and there, its soooo annoying!!
The shows are pretty average storylines, some humour , some action.
i get the feeling this is a replacement for Heroes.
  • SciFi Fan disappointed

    "Terrible"
I'm sorry to say that I have been disappointed with the series, so far.
Unlike X-Men, the abilities these people claim to possess has not been dramatically demonstrated well. There has been no "physical" (if you can call it that) manifestations, except for the 'strongman',the woman with the "voice", and the autisic electronics kid. It leaves me wondering if the charactersreally have real abilities, Also, is this supposed to be a drama? Where is the only seem to be reciting their lines; not being the characters. It has been very hard to watch the show at all. There's no passion in the characters.
However, I will continue to watch the show in hopes that my opinion will change.
One other thing, there's no comedy relief. You've got people with special "powers" and there's no ?? pracks?? or other twists? How are these people, doing what they do, supposed to handle to stresses without some comedy relief?moreless
  • Like Heroes, only one more step into the realm of reality. Good writing so far.

    "Great"
I actually find it refreshing to see a show with superpowered people whose powers are just beyond the realm of what's realistically possible, not way out in fantasyland. There's no time travel, teleportation, flight, or shapeshifting.
Where Heroes took one step in this direction, avoiding the silly costumes and ridiculous hairdos of most superhero movies, Alphas seems like it could actually take place in our universe.
I like that the powers have clear limitations and rules. This makes for much more coherent storytelling and keeps the writers from getting lazy. Let's hope they can keep this show interesting and not fall prey to all the executive meddling that ruined Heroes.
I also like that the main "alphas" actually talk to each other and work together. I'm interested in the whole government vs. individualist conflict, and am curious to see if any of the team will break away from the government and join the other side. I also hope they don't let the Famous Sci-Fi Guest Stars drive the plot too much. It's so frustrating when a good plot gets derailed or rewritten depending on which celebrity is available.moreless
