Alvin: (serves Jeanette her lunch tray) Hungry on Election Day? Sure you are. Ya like avocados? How about some potato salad and some orange juice? It's on me! Brittany: Jeanette! (she walks up to her sister) Brittany: Don't ruin your appetite... on this slop! Why don't we dine together? Just sister to sister. (she and Jeanette take a seat) Brittany: Sparkling apple juice? (Eleanor pours a glass of said beverage for Jeanette) Jeanette: I don't know what to do. Alvin: (zips up to her) Beautiful music for a beautiful person. (Simon and Theodore play romantic music on their violins) Jeanette: I think the best thing for me to do is not vote. Brittany: Over my dead body!
(after Brittany's sad song, Eleanor, who had heard a knock on the door, opens the door) Eleanor: It's Alvin! And he's brought the whole school! Brittany: (still crying) What does he want? (Alvin walks up to her) Alvin: Hi, Brittany. I thought we could celebrate together: My victory party, and the Chipettes' welcoming party. Brittany: Welcoming party?! (wipes away her tears, all better now) Well, okay.
Eleanor: (enters with the latest poll results) Hey, Madame President! Brittany: What are you talking about? Eleanor: (shows Brittany the results) You and Alvin are tied for president! And guess who has the deciding vote. Jeanette! (Jeanette thinks) Jeanette: Gee. I wonder who to vote for? Brittany: What?! (she walks up to her little sister and kneels down before her) Brittany: (sweetly) Jeanette, sweetheart. You know that dress of mine you've always liked? It's yours.
(Brittany receives a delivery of flowers) Brittany: Oh, how lovely! They must be for me! Jeanette: (reads the card) The card says: "Jeanette". Brittany: They obviously mispelled my name. Read me the card. Jeanette: (reads card) "Dear, Dear Jeanette, Hope you are feeling well on Election Day. Signed: Your dearest friend and buddy, Alvin." How sweet! Brittany: (furiously whacks her sister with the bouquet to a chair) Sweet, my butt! He's up to something!
(after the Chipettes' campaign rally is a sweet success, much to Alvin's dismay) Brittany: Alvin! I took your advice about thinking big! Alvin: I didn't mean this big! Brittany: I can't wait to meet my opponent. Simon: That can be arranged. Alvin: (holds out his hand) Pleased to meet you. (shocked, Brittany jumps and gasps) Brittany: You?! I didn't know! Alvin: Now, don't let that stop you. Go for it! (to Simon) Poor kid. She doesn't have a chance!
(Brittany runs to the principal's office, while her little sisters follow her) Eleanor: Slow down, Brittany! Jeanette: What got into her?! (they enter the office, where Brittany receives a sign-up sheet) Brittany: I'd like to run for School President. Jeanette and Eleanor: School President?!! Brittany: (signs in) After I'm elected, we'll have a big victory party! (she hands the principal her sheet, and is excited) Brittany: Oh! I'll be so popular! I just can't wait! (she and the other Chipettes exit the office) Jeanette: But you don't know anything about the school, or the issues, or... Brittany: Stop being so naive, Jeanette! Elections are simply popularity contests. Let's see. We'll start with a campaign rally tomorrow...
Alvin: (to Brittany, during lunch) I know it's tough moving to a new school. But you'll make new friends. Brittany: Easy for you to say. Everybody knows you. Alvin: Well, ya don't get popular moping around. You've got to take the bull by the horn. Circulate! Think big! Brittany: (sees a sign about the election behind Alvin) Think big, huh? Alvin: The bigger, the better!
Simon: (wipes his glasses while speaking to Jeanette, during lunch) There's a lecture on micro-organisms you'll love. Jeanette: (wipes her own glasses) The one by Dr. Leonard? Simon: Exactly!
Theodore: (to Eleanor, at lunchtime) Remember, bring your own lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays. That's when they have stick-fish. (Eleanor blows a raspberry in disgust and agreement)
Alvin: I can't tell you how surprised I am to be elected School President! Words cannot describe the honor and privelege I feel at this moment. (to his little brothers) Do I sound too cocky? Simon: Oh, no. You're dripping with sincerity. Theodore: But, Alvin, the election's not 'til next week. How do you know you'll win? Alvin: Are you kidding? I'm up to date on all the issues, everyone loves me, and I'm just oozing with leadership! Simon: And no one's running against you. Alvin: I rest my case.
Brittany: Now remember, Jeanette, you should vote for the best person for the job, whoever she may be. Jeanette: Ohh... (she enters the voting booth) Alvin: I don't have a chance. Brittany: Alvin, I'd like to think we'll both take this well, no matter what the results. We're both mature. (Jeanette comes out of the booth) Jeanette: Congratulations. Brittany: (so excited, she hugs her little sister) OH! Thank you! Thank you! (Jeanette walks up to and shakes hands with...) Jeanette: Alvin. Alvin: (surprised) ME?! Brittany: WHAT?!! Are you joking?! Alvin: Brittany, what happened to "mature"? Brittany: Stay out of this, Alvin! (she falls to the floor) Brittany: Go ahead! Walk all over me, Jeanette! (starts crying) My life's over!
Teacher: Now, class, before we get started, I want you all to meet 3 new classmates. (she opens the door, and inside come, to the surprise of the Chipmunks, the Chipettes!) Alvin: Brittany! Simon: Jeanette! Theodore: Eleanor! (they run up to the Chipettes and greet them) Jeanette and Eleanor: Hi, boys! (the Chipmunks guide the Chipettes to their desks) Alvin: (to Brittany) You'll love it here. We'll show you around during lunch.
Brittany: (after losing the election to Alvin by only 1 vote: Jeanette's) Some victory party! (she starts to cry) Jeanette: I just thought you were running for the wrong reasons. Alvin was more qualified. (Brittany cries again) Jeanette and Eleanor: Oh, don't cry, Brittany! (a song comes on) Brittany: It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to. Cry if I want to. Cry if I want to. You would cry, too, if it happened to you. (cries) Who would believe how I lost the big vote? And now I don't have any friends. My little sister, Jeanette, has brought my life to an end! All: It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to. Cry if I want to. Cry if I want to. You would cry, too, if it happened to you. (Brittany cries again, while Alvin and the others watch from outside) Brittany: There I was, on the verge of success. The world laid out at my feet. But when my sis cast her vote, She guaranteed my defeat! All: It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to. Cry if I want to. Cry if I want to. You would cry, too, if it happened to you. (knock on door) Eleanor: I'll get it!
