Episode Recap

The episode begins at the battle of the Alamo, which took place in 1836. In the middle of the fracas, a young boy named Joe runs around helping the injured soldiers. One of the soldiers he helps is Davy Crockett. As he runs, he gets hit in the head. His vision blurs, then he looks up and sees a man and woman taking pictures of the battle. They are dressed in modern clothes and are carrying modern day cameras.

They walk away and the boy follows them, but he loses them in the crowd. Some enemy soldiers burst through a wall. Joe runs to hide from them and finds himself in a 20th century gift shop. He watches some people buy some things, then follows them back outside, where the battle is still raging. Joe yells at the people to get down, but they don't seem to hear him.

A colonel comes over and tells Joe to get down. Joe looks up and sees more enemy soldiers coming towards them. He backs away and runs into a vending machine. He turns to fire at the enemies but stops when he sees a tour guide leading a group of tourists through the battle. The tour group is completely unaware of the battle raging around them. The tour guide mentions that Davy Crockett died at the battle of the Alamo, and Joe screams "That's a lie!" She doesn't hear, but the colonel does and tells him to pull himself together.

The colonel tells Joe he needs to get to a man named Lefferts. He gives Joe a message to give to Lefferts, then gets stabbed in the back and dies. Joe starts running, but he is surrounded by enemy soldiers. Just as they are about to shoot him, however, a man pulls him away and throws him out of the building they are in, telling him that it is closing time.

Outside the building is the modern-day city of San Antonio. Joe gets on a tour bus and rides around San Antonio. He meets a woman named Harriet on the bus. He asks for directions to the road where the colonel told him to look for Lefferts, so she tells the driver to let him off downtown.

Once he gets off the bus, Joe continues to ask for directions, but no one will help him. A little boy tells him to look in the phone book, then gets his mother to give Joe some money so he can make a call. Unfortunately, he cannot figure out how to use the phone.

Joe stops to watch some break dancers, but one of them steals his hat and runs away with it. A cop tries to stop him as he runs across the street. Joe stops and turns and sees a van about to hit him, so he shoots it. The cop tells him to stop again, but he keeps running, and the cop calls for backup.

Joe sees a man holding onto a horse, so he jumps on the horse's back and rides away. He hides in a parking garage until the cops give up the chase. Then he rides through the park, where the cops pick up the chase again. He manages to lose them, then looks up and sees that he is on Shuttlecock Road, which is where the colonel told him he could find Lefferts.

Joe rides into the crowd, and a man tries to get him to hand over his rifle. Joe tells him that he needs to find Lefferts or there won't be a state of Texas. The man says he'll make sure that there is always a Texas, just like there was 100 years ago. The people in the crowd try to get his gun away from him, but he wrestles free and rides away. He sees a store called Leffert's Antiques and decides to go inside. He gives the store owner the message, and the man offers to buy it from him. He tells the man that he doesn't want any money, then says he has to get back.

Outside the store, he asks for directions to the Alamo from a boy who looks just like him. He rides off in the direction the boy tells him. When he gets back to the building that he came out of before, he gets off his horse, looks around, and goes back inside.
