Amelia Earhart The Final Flight

Show Summary

Amelia Earhart The Final Flight tells the story of the famous aviator, who disappeared in 1937 after attempting a solo trip around the world. Earhart (Diane Keaton) has already established herself within the aviation community as a competent, highly skilled pilot. Although Earhart is the darling of the press, she still faces age-old stereotypes that come along with breaking into a profession that is dominated by men. Earhart is portrayed as a free-thinking feminist who goes against the social mores of the time. Her relationship with her husband G.P. Putnam (Bruce Dern) is one of mutual respect and admiration. He is her rock and the shoulder she can cry on when the feelings of self-doubt arise. Fred Noonan (Rutger Hauer) is a brilliant, albeit flawed navigator, who is chosen to fly along with Amelia. Although the first attempt is thwarted by mechanical failures, Earhart and Noonan depart on their fateful second attempt on June 1, 1937.
