A year after working at First Community, the reverend still doesn't feel appreciated. When a new job offer presents itself, he takes it. Then, he regrets the decision.
The second season gets underway with a very strong episode about the reverend's career and ultimate destiny. I like this episode because it seems to be realistic in its depiction of the dilemma faced by the reverend, and it conveys a deeper sense of community and why people are led to certain places in life. Clifton Davis does a very good job playing the conflicts in this episode. And Sherman Hemsley is his usual fun self as a deacon trying every trick in the book to get the pastor to stay. But the highlight is the scene where the choir sings Rev. Gregory's favorite song. Excellent.
