Thelma wants to show off at her bridal shower to spite a high school rival. But when she learns that her old friend's life has fallen apart, she becomes sympathetic.
Jackee takes a break from her '227' filming schedule to make another special appearance on 'Amen.' This time she plays a different character than the one she did at the end of the second season. She's one of the girls that Thelma attended high school with, and Thelma soon learns that her life is not all it's cracked up to be. The comic timing is always very good with Jackee, and with Anna Maria Horsford, so putting them together in this episode is truly spectacular. The cattiness is done in a realistic way, and later, when Jackee's character faces a possible breast cancer diagnosis, there is a very tender and sincere moment played between the women. This is probably the best example of an episode that features the women on the series and a relevant social message. The one continuity issue with this story is that there should've been mention of the girlfriend played by Berlinda Tolbert back in season 2. However, we do see Thelma's friend Jackie and she has a very funny moment after Jackee leaves the bridal shower.
