This is not the best episode of the series, but it has one of the best scenes, at least for Clifton Davis fans. The moment where Rev. Gregory's jealousy overtakes him and he winds up using a church member's memorial service to out-preach Rev. Johnny is hilarious. I think there are a lot of insights to the story. The earlier scenes where the deacon visits Johnny and sees his young parish in action is sort of a spoof on church congregations, especially when the kiddie members act exactly like their adult counterparts (only, with problems particular to their generation). The final scene, after the duel, is also very insightful. Both Reuben and Rev. Johnny admit to using the chance to glorify the Lord as a chance to promote their own unique preaching talents. It's one of the funnier and more down-to-earth episodes of the series. If there were a retrospective of 'Amen,' surely a clip of the duel scene would need to be included.
