  • With Ernie's prodding, Amelia is convinced that she can become a well-known singer. But first she has to start working her way to the top, and that means performing in a seedy bar.

This is definitely a Roz Ryan episode. The writers have given her a great opportunity to showcase her vocal talents here, and she turns in a performance of the old Burt Bacharach tune 'What the World Needs Now Is Love.' Of course, this is played during a scene where Ernie gets into a rumble with a tough bar patron. He is suspended in mid-air as the hulking figure starts to sway in step with Amelia's number. It's truly hilarious and almost upstages her. But the final scene is the real keeper. The entire cast is assembled back at the Frye home and Roz Ryan leads them all in the classic Diana Ross number 'Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand).' Barbara Montgomery accompanies on the piano.
