  • In order to make the church's annual holiday program more special than ever, Ernie decides to include live animals in the nativity scene. This includes a camel, a goat and a donkey named Lamont that earns a special place in the deacon's heart.

This is the third special holiday-themed episode of 'Amen.' This time around, Sherman Hemsley and fellow cast members get to interact with an assortment of live animals. But the plot is really about the Deacon's attachment to the donkey. Hemsley has to bring the animal on stage in more than one scene, and sometimes the animal doesn't seem to want to cooperate! That just makes it funnier. In the story, the animal gets sick and is supposed to lay down as if it is having medical problems. Later, when it shows up at the nativity scene, suddenly healthy, Hemsley's character is grateful and more affectionate than ever. This is truly a memorable episode.
