    The story of Thelma's military saga concludes in this amusing episode. We have the deacon doing what he does best: (mis)representing his client-- in this case, Thelma-- during a court-martial proceeding after she has gone AWOL. The scene earlier in the show where she steals the jeep of a high-ranking official and gets arrested is both funny and tragic. Of course, the Fryes do not realize that the army is perfectly willing to discharge her from active duty. Instead, Ernie impedes that decision temporarily due to his grandstanding at the trial. The introduction of Rolly as a character witness is good, and there's a hilarious bit with Thelma speaking on her own behalf and sprawling out on the table before the panel of officers who will render a decision about her fate. She is finally free to go, and the story arc comes full-circle with a scene back at the house that makes it very clear Thelma and Reuben will marry in three weeks.moreless
