Thelma (Anna Maria Horsford) intoxicates the reverend with her wine-cooked dinner, and he intoxicates her with a kiss.
  • Thelma's cooking (duck in wine sauce) causes her father and the reverend to get drunk. After dinner, Reuben kisses Thelma passionately for the first time. She doesn't realize he's drunk and misreads the incident as the beginning of a hot new romance.moreless

    "Perfect"
The cast is still warming up and getting used to playing off each other (except for old pro Sherman Hemsley who has his character down and seems to be helping the others). But it is still a great episode. In fact, things are really starting to gel story-wise. This is the first time the writers have revealed that there will be a long-term love affair between the new reverend (Clifton Davis) and the deacon's daughter, Thelma (Anna Maria Horsford). Davis and Horsford seem very well matched, and they get the chance to start building a relationship for these two lonely characters, even if it all starts because of a misunderstanding. Meanwhile, the Hetebrinks are shown assuming administrative duties at the church office. They seem to be written as catty women who find it funny that Thelma has misinterpreted the reverend's kiss. In subsequent episodes, the two women will be much warmer to Thelma, if not exactly towards the deacon.moreless

    "Good"
One of the episode of the series is about the business relationship between Deacon fly and Hemsley and the Rev and the personal relationship between the Rev and Thelma Fly. those two relationship com e full circle in theis epsiode where alcohol was served during dinner and Rev got drunk towards Thelma. This is thge example of a good episode of the series which last from 1986-1991. It may not a great series, but it was a good series that expose religion in a person's life. the series is being run on the I network, which is becoming a second-rate version of TV Land.moreless

    • This the first time we see the Frye kitchen. The set is very different compared to how it will look later in the series. It is narrower, the door to the dining room is located a bit more upstage, there are many more wall ornaments and the walls are painted another color. Also, the stove is not located near the dining room door where it will be seen in other episodes but is on the far wall away from the door.

    • No guest stars appeared in this episode.
