After reviewing the 1986-87 season I can tell you that once the show was changed to the 30 minutes, The Top Ten, Spotlight Dance, and The Video Showcase became rarities.Almost everyweek you had Rate-A-Record before a performance the format was broken down like this Theme/Intro song commercial song(sometime Spotlight Dance) Rate-A-Record(Sometimes a song or Video Showcase commercial Performance song commercial song song (Sometimes Top Ten) commercial outro There is no way in hell you could get that out in 30 minutes today

American Bandstand was shortened to 30 minutes for the 1986-87 season. And the guest list was cut down to 1 artist a show. There was also a new closing that was a 1986 remix of the original 1957 theme.
