A few sources have claimed that American Bandstand continued in syndication through March 1989. But we have not been able to find any syndicated AB listings beyond mid-September 1988.
Apparently, American Bandstand was off the air from mid-September 1988 through early April 1989 (when the series moved to the USA cable network).
During the 1988-89 season, Dick Clark hosted "Dick Clark's Golden Greats," a syndicated show highlighting classic "Bandstand" performances. "Golden Greats" ran from Sept. 1988 through approx. March 1989.
